Some of this I only had on vinyl, or inexplicably never bought previously and only listened to on Spotify (like the Earth and Thou stuff) so I filled in my collection of what I actually own.
i picked up the last few Black Mountain releases. i kind of forgot about them after Wilderness Heart but I'm liking the way they have morphed their sound. much better executed than Elder in my opinion.
man i love the funk from eastern Africa. I don't mind the Nigerian and north African stuff but Sudanese, Ethiopian and Somali funk is right up my alley.
Yeah that one track is so good I'm willing to roll the dice on the rest of the album.
I really can't imagine what musicians who depend on their music for their livelihood are going through. I think a lot of people will be back to work in the next month or so, but for touring bands it's probably going to be a lot longer than that. People are going to have some rough times, unfortunately.Glad to see you are singlehandedly funding multiple bands in these trying times!
Oh, absolutely. I'm lucky to be in an industry largely unaffected by the crisis, but there's a thousand others that are affected in addition to musicians and it's a real shame to see. Glad to see people coming together to support each other, at least.
Last week I paypal'd one of my favorite artists $50 with a note saying I was sorry for all the music I stole off limewire and napster. It made me feel good to be able to do that for him.

Hi all!. Recent 'convert' to doom here and I need your help!
My pedalboard has a free space that needs a pedal! Right now i have Bassbone V2 - SA AfterShock (most of the time as distortion) - Behringer SF-300 - Walrus Slö. What could I add to the party to make this board even more fun. I was thinking about maybe a new distortion and moving the AfterShock to overdrive -duty, but I'm open to suggestions.
Board is mostly played with a bowed EUB.

I extremely need to hear this!! I'm very curious about electric bowed instruments applied in this genre and really want to learn the cello or bass, but costs, time, and prevalence of elitism among classical musicians are putting me off. Hoping to get around to it regardless later this year.
As for your actual questions, a good compressor, pre-amp/EQ, tuner, and cabinet simulator are in my opinion the cornerstones of a solid board. You have the pre-amp already I see and depending on the rest of your rig you might not need the cab sim, but distortions without cab sims going through high(-ish)-fidelity speakers are not very nice. For more effects-y effects, I like octaves, phasers, and delays in that order of both signal chain and ranking. For drives, I'd say that you can play most stoner/doom with just OD. Depends on how heavy you want to go. My favourite drive is with no doubt the GroundFX Burning Sunn, based on the Sunn Model T. It goes pretty gnarly but still stays in heavy overdrive territory until you add further boost going into it. Heavier distortions are not my territory, but I'll shill anything by Dunwich Amplification, now manufactured by Magic Pedals.

IMHO the EUB fits perfectly in the genre. It's perfect for low and droning sounds, while also able to be punchy and staccato. And you can get silly. A few weeks ago I recorded a quick sample with the fuzz
FWIW ive been looking into the grand orbiter phaser lately because it can do an ultra slow sweeping phase. I think that with an EUB would sound crazyah, cab sim is a good one! And thanks to the current situation we are actually busy with a few recordings, so I hope to have something to share soon

Nice find, never even knew about African funk. I dig the lo-fi grittiness. There's a rad Eko bass on that cover. Those basses are some of the coolest looking around.
