My fretless Ric is my primary bass in the Doom band. I run GHS Pressurewounds; some zing but not too much and play well fingerstyle and well with pick. Also easier on the fretboard than rounds. Favorite string. Highly recommend.
The bass has a natural melancholy tone to it which works perfect for the genre. It's my #1 without doubt.

Not Doom related but I also used to use this bass for 2 years when I was in a death metal band. Converted fretless Warwick Corvette 5er. Sounded fantastic for death metal. I like fretless basses a lot.
I'm still drooling over your Ric. Its so nice.
This ibby is my main player for our weird post metal/stoner/whatever it is we play.
I haven't really paid much attention to who's using flats or rounds on fretless. Only one I know about is Jaco, who used rounds to perform, but I think either put flats on or used a fretted neck when practicing.
I do need to try some more flats, but for right now I love the Cobalt ones. They're still very bright and they've been on for well over a year.

Did they make a combo version of that traynor? I think I've played on one once at an old shop. Had the same layout, but I never looked at the model name.
My drummer has the OB1K, all transistor. Not bad at all!
