The TB forum seems so surreal now, especially the OT section. The world is in ruins and/or turmoil but here everything is peaceful, with torts, and carrots, and all that same old bull****.
All this "no politics" thing...
Just look are the OT section. You can totally feel that fake stillness like when you step into an hospice or a lunatic asylum with the "relaxing background music" and the evil nurse to keep you sedated etc.

I saw that too. To be fair, the mods would either have to let everything go or hold to the current situation of 'no politics'. I think we can mostly agree that the internet is a place where most things devolve to pissing matches eventually. I personally don't blame them, and I'm not expecting to hear any revelatory insights here that I can't find scrolling social media, reddit, political blogs, etc.
Given what passes for wisdom here, it's probably for the best.

I have to agree with the last few that it's probably for the best. it is nice to know that regardless of what is happening here on planet Earth there is always a refuge for funkaholics, low end worshipers, and the like. I work and go to school downtown where we've had mostly peaceful protesting, along with some vandalism and small riots. There's something calming about, after seeing everything that is happening around me, being able to take a quick break see the OT page with a pic of a crazy ebay bass, or come to you guys to see y'all talking about effects and sharing music and feeling comfortable to do the same. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. Although talkbass has it's fair share of toxic people/posts it pales in comparison to what one would find on other similar sites or social media platforms and it's IMO one of the things that makes this site so appealing.
Agreed - especially when lots of my regular sources of catharsis (playing music with others, going to shows, grabbing a beer with friends, etc.) are currently unavailable. I feel like I need a place where I can come and just talk about music, gear, whatever. Maybe it's a distraction, but it's a welcome one...
Let me preface this by saying that I actively avoid the news in pretty much any form, and avoid social media at all costs (one good thing about no concerts: I don't need to check my bogus Facebook account that I use only to follow bands I like). With that out of the way, I'll say that the day politics and the like starts getting discussed widely through otherwise non-politic parts of TB is the day I leave for good.
My garden is pumping out spinach at a rate I can barely keep up with, I can walk a mile or two and see families of ducks and geese, and the trees don't care about what's in the headlines. The world is still doing just fine.

No, it's really not. Just because you don't know whats happening on a daily basis does not mean the world is fine. It's about as far from fine as it's been in my 44 years here, and according to my grandmother, about as un-shaging-fine as its been for most of hers (this woman lived through WW2 and raised children during Vietnam). It's your choice to put on the blinders, but don't be fooled; time doesn't stand still because you're not on instagram. (I'm a zero social media person myself).
And on that note: I wish I could take some of the spinach off your hands, can't get enough of the stuff and we are limiting our trips to the store.

Just got done with a huge convo with a few of the pipefitters on just that. My thoughts exactly. Oddly, despite usually being an optimist, I have had a feeling that some crazy poopie (ie great change) will go down before this all calms down and moves to whatever the new normal will be.
All I know is I wish I invested in Plexi glass, that poopie is everywhere here at our plant. Haha
I do get the idea that the Earth itself is going per usual, but if things go real south, there's no denying the impact humans could have on the balance of nature.

Honestly I like talkbass being my non-political safe space. Im getting blasted with peoples opinions from all directions on every other website, its nice to come here and just chill with the bass bros.
We are finally to the mastering phase for our album and im pumped on it. Hopefully before too long we will be able to release it.
On that does anyone here have much experience in shopping around for a distribution deal with indy labels. Any youd recommend?

Oh believe me I tend to avoid the news too and I myself have no desire to discuss politics with anyone, here or elsewhere, it mostly ends up being a sterile, pointless exercise, and I don't care/have no patience for other idiots' opinion.
Only, it's surreal, and kinda silly. I start wondering how far would it go, if TB would still exist in this exact shape and form in wartime, or under an atomic bombing
Maybe they would allow a "WW3 - no politics or politics by proxy" thread, or just keep with their gleeful carrots memes
