Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Meh. Offer 1000-1200 and see what's what, that stuff isn't really the best of what they made.

Been a week of being ousted from home from the goddamn fires and starting to get a little fidgety. I made a video that I should have posted last week.

Yeah I'm not actually interested. I have no idea what that stuff should go for.

I heard the weather might help with settling down the fires. I hope things get back to normal for you soon (or at least what passes for normal in 2020).

For the hell of it, here is a really rough clip of something I've been working on here and there with a friend of mine. At the rate we've been going I don't know that it will ever get finished.

And I would be remiss if I didn't thank @ihaveaquestion for the help in getting off to the right start with this.

Any experience with Eden cabs? This is local, and it would fulfill my small cab needs, but I can’t find official specs or a manual. I like that it’s “combo-ish” - I can put any head in that rack. I’m a fan of GK’s Neo 410, and I wonder how this compares. Looks like a solid bit of gear, and I feel like Eden has a good rep, but I’ve never played any and don’t know anyone who has.

Colin Marston uses an Eden 410 (along with a JC120), so there's that.

Follow up question - what is the “z” symbol for the specs on the back of the cab? It’s next to watts? I see it ohms? Those aren’t listed, so is that an alternate symbol? I’d want to know the ohms on this thing to match it properly.

I always liked Eden. I have no experience with that particular one, but played an Eden 212 from their Nemesis line for years. No complaints here. That was with a double bass in a swing band though, so I don't know how they sound with dirt

No experience with Eden besides trying a few at stores way back. Heard great things and I'm always all for combos of that style. Love my Mesa 212 combo. The extra weight of the head isn't noticable IMO and with some casters on that sucker it should move easy. Since none of my heads are small it saves me a trip.

In other news, with some spare time I finally delved into some death metal. I knew of a few bands like napalm death and have played shows with local ones, but never really spent time listening. Anyway, the older Swedish stuff like Entombed is great! Toxic holocaust (American right?) is good too, never realized there was a lot of groove oriented parts instead of just thrash and blast beats the whole time. Glad I spent the time, nice to mix things up at times.

I went and ordered a new mountainking megalith. I've been massively curious for years. Should be a couple weeks. I have high hopes and have only heard good things

...also decided my egc neck pj sounds amazing with a baxandall tonestack. So I'm running an arkham oracle into a trace elliot v4 with solid solid results.

i LOVE bax/James tone stack. most of the amps I've been building use em and even threw one on the end of a rat

Lotta baxandall love here too! That's sweet, how'd it sound? Did it change the breakup at all? I've been thinking about trying to wire up an on board preamp with one.

That oracle looks like a great piece of gear, wish I had the cash to spare.
