I'll make a thread about it in the amp forum once I've had it for a couple days and formed some impressions. FedEx tracking shows it's supposed to be delivered today but they often leave stuff sitting in the delivery truck for an extra day in my experience.

I’m sure this is in reference to a recent post, but in my current brain-addled state, that sounds like sage advice for a multitude of situations.
Sorry if I misunderstand, but does it have a fixed cutoff frequency?
Question for the stoner/doom fam... Who's done vinyl? We're exploring options for making a run of them, I dont do a lot of physical copies so I dont have a good understanding on the various nuances on the different forms of vinyl production (pressed vs lathe cut for instance). Figured y'all do so here we are! Upside is cost isn't a huge issue, in this case. LOL

Also, you set an example with your restraint on the B string: the first few minutes it's hardly there, so it has real effect when you gradually start using it. It would have been easy to overuse it at the beginning, which would deflate the climax a bit.
never really looked into lathe cut but it seems more geared towards very small runs and quality can vary wildely. a good lathe cut will sound better than the typical pressed for a few plays but then the quality starts to suffer. lathe cut seems like more of a novelty item.
all of our full-length albums were pressed and we used PiratesPress for all except our first. really good service and pricing. if you're crafty enough you can save a lot of dough by doing your own jackets.

. i used my MIJ 4 string Jazz with David Allen pickups tuned down to C# standard or drop B. i have always limited the use of the lowest string, i just find i can hear myself better and sit better in the mix playing the higher octave and then use the lower octave more as an effect.

I've pressed a couple of records, but both were stamped. I agree with @bassboysam that lathe cut records really seems like it's for small runs (<500 copies). If you want a bunch of copies in a rapid fashion, I'd pay to get a stamper made. My main piece of advice is: if you can get it pressed somewhere local where you and the rest of the band can go pick them up, do it. The cost of shipping my first pressing from where we had to have it pressed was about 1/3 of what it cost to press the run. The second time, we were able to get it done at the local pressing company, and were able to save the shipping costs in return.
Hey! I got hopes! Plus, once you've paid for the stampers, etc. paying for pressing extra copies is relatively cheap. I just pulled up my quote from the first record, making the stamper seems to have cost $520. Each copy in black was $1.29 (just a white paper sleeve at that price), so pressing 500 is $645, 250 is $322.50. If it happens to sell well enough you need the second 250 records, you're usually going to have to sink the cost of the stampers again.
But yeah, I've still gota few hundred 180 or so of the first record (band essentially broke up because the guitarist moved away before we even received them). The second record has sold a lot better, and I believe that we're down to the last 100 or so on that one. In both cases, we had a label that wanted to sell the records so some went through their hands, and some went out in trades to other labels. But my understanding that they were able to sell pretty much all they took in. Of course, no shows in the last 6 months means the sales pretty much stopped too.

yeah the records themselves aren't too expensive, its the jackets and shipping that really hurt.
Yes, kind of. Being passive, the pickup(s) and everything before it affects it to my knowledge, similar to how what pot, cap, and pickups affect the passive tone control on a guitar/bass. I could be wrong, and it may not shift around.
Regardless, you can dial in how much gets pulled out and it seems to work well enough for me. Here's the link, looks like I paid $25 + shipping:

500 is a lot for a non-touring band and even for some touring bands
Good to know... We're looking at a run of 200 or so because thats the only way it makes sense to me with cost and quality considerations.
I see myself sticking with this for the foreseeable future.
Both made by Saturnworks. The one on the right is a buffered splitter. The one on the left is a custom TRS splitter and mixer, but here I'm just using the mixer part.
Tuner > splitter > one channel direct to mixer, the other to PD7 then mixer > mixer > Thick Air
I might mess with where I have the Thick Air, but for now I like this setup.
