For some reason since Gibson patented the humbucker , they think they need to put them into every instrument they produce. But the Ric single coils really add clarity, mids, wake the instrument up, and bring out the semi hollow tone better. I’m a huge Rickenbacker fan so I really think their pickups sound great and that influenced my decision. But yes these basses should have shipped with single coils imo.

I kinda find it a bit odd too, at least they make a few that can split to a single coil. Odd how fender ventures so much into humbucker territory, but gibson won't go the other way. They do have some bad ass humbuckers though.

I've never owned a P bass so I'm certainly not qualified to say whether any of the multiscale basses can fill a P's shoes (I'd guess the Dingwall version of a P would come closest, but that's just an uneducated guess). I'm pretty much all-in on multiscale, but that's not helpful to anyone.

All of our basses lean in the P direction. If you're downtuning, I'd recommend 36"+ for tuning below B-standard, no matter who makes the bass. If you're looking at one of our basses, stick with the long scale models and to really nail the P-tone we have P-tone pickups available in 4 and 5-string.

working on a cover of my chemical romance "early sunsets over monroeville" for a friend's halloween benefit comp. sorta straight up cover although the tones are closer to shoegaze (used the fathom and cranked my homebrew vibrochamp on everything but bass). digging the arturia drumbrute impact, definitely helped me step up my drum game. probably getting too anal with the editing but you know how we do

possibly even less doom but i had an idea to cover a bad religion song early friday morning so i banged this out

I have an NG2 with the routing under the pickguard for a third pickup and I've been thinking about whether I could put a P-tone there. Thanks for the reminder that I need to delve deeper into that.

Nice! Good to hear about the db impact. The cymbals sound odd in demos, but if that's what you used for that, it sounds real good. Been on the fence for some time on picking one up.

i like the sound of my volca beats a bit more but the actual workflow on this is incredible. I'm not a drummer or even a synth guy (i sold my hx effects because there were too many options and buttons) but I've been able to use it to generate the drums for a couple songs now, once figuring out the patterns by ear (for someone who only vaguely understands drum concepts I'm satisfied with what i came up with) and once from drum tab. recording I'm working on now i have an aux send with a bunch of room reverb and that seems to make it feel more natural

If you'd like to keep things simple, just replace the existing pickup in the middle position. No need to replace the pickguard or switch. This position works great for getting a P vibe.

Yeah the workflow is definitely what's got me looking at one. All the cymbal sounds are the only thing holding me back. I love synths but mostly just mess around with em. Cool to hear re-amping can help.

I haven't messed with it in a bit, but I think I liked having the PD7 after the Morley. IIRC that brought back the low end that I felt the Morley was lacking. I'm just going from memory though. I should probably mess with the Morley some more.
