Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Not much new around here. Played with Against the Grain from Detroit last month. They kicked ass and melted the PA. Strobe light spark show in the speaker on the right and smoke pouring out the speaker on the left. Last show we ever get at that bowling alley. 
Played with Witchden couple weeks later. Heavy fuggers. They had homemade batboxes with Witchden logo wood burned onto them. Great merch!
Not much going on band wise for about the next month other than freakin tryin to get the ball rolling on some recording.
Practice space finally fully in order after the water damaged. Freaking love it down there now. One of the bands we share it with is done at the end of this month so we'll have it pretty much to ourselves.
...and a practice space recording of something new we are messin with.

B8s are bottom tier cymbals, and at least one of them is totally f*cked - heads look pretty bad too.
Get him down to $200 and I'd call it a good deal. $250 ain't bad, but at the very least you're going to have to shell out for heads.

Yea one looked beat to hell and inverted, but he also said like I have 3 cymbals, and there was an extra pictured, maybe that's it.
I'm not looking to drop everything and become a drummer, just a house kit to mess with or for when people come by, or of I get something going with some friends.
Really it's not a big space, I want for sure a bass drum, hi hat, crash, snare and floor Tom. The rest is just a bonus, I don't want to spend a lot, as heads will be an issue no doubt regardless of the kit, being these are all used beat to hell kits people learned on.
There's a local $100 PEACE kit here, I could afford that unknown crap and not have to drive far.

I just signed on for $3300.00 worth of plumbing on my 108 year old house. Basically redoing everything on the ground level with new modern stuff. Had a water leak last summer that was a freaking disaster.
No gear for me for the rest of the year which sucks, but honestly I'm not anywhere near as good as I want to be so I'll just concentrate on getting better and continue learning to sight read better. I really like my rig even though most people in my area think Peavey sucks.
I'm not playing with anyone since the brothers that made up my last band moved back home to Colorado so they could legally smoke so it's not that big a deal, although I was hoping to work on my pedal board some.
I got a 4 year old daughter who lives with me and I can't let my house turn into a moldy damp dungeon. If it was just me I'd be in Colorado too.

Also, you bring up a point. I know a lot of people who want to move to/vacation in Colorado for the legal bud. Idk how shady are you that you'd uproot yourself to make getting bud easier than it already is. Also why go somewhere purely to smoke, even a vacation I'd rather be hiking, or in museums, though I wouldn't mind being buzzed during the visit, it's far from the key reason I'd go anywhere.

No/less legal repercussions maybe? Still a pretty dodgy reason to move your life for but hey.
I smoked and went hiking once. Any by hiking, I mean I got lost in the creek near my house because I forgot what I was looking for. Turns out I left the house to buy KFC.

I'm in the same boat. I want an extra drums et in our space for side projects and jamming with people.
But I'm think I'm going to piece mine together. A BIG kick, floor tom, Snare, hi hat, and a ride that would also be a decent crash.

I would rather live in Colorado because I could make quite a bit better money doing my DJ job there. Kansas is really making it hard on the adult club business and it has been in a slow decline for the last six years. Also I love the mountains. My family vacationed there yearly as I was growing up.
I'm not going to move my daughter away from her mom. She sees her a couple of times a week.
Yeah I've been in green-legal WA for about 9 months and haven't even bothered trying to figure out weed law.
Course my job keeps me sober, so there is that.
Maybe it's time for a new job....
I'm a voter in Washington, and personally I voted against, what was it, I-502? It was a horribly written initiative, Colorado is smoking us (heheh, lolz) with how they're handling the entire thing. Control went to the Liquor Control board, who thought that was a good idea? Still not okay to grow your own, unless you have a medical card. And honestly the medical card is still the best choice in state. It's convoluted, complicated, and being poorly executed as far as I can tell. I really wished we hadn't jumped the gun, we should have waited until a more thoroughly thought out proposition was put into play. Oh well, it's still a step (or maybe stumble) in the right direction.
In other news, anyone ever heard of Hi-Tone amps? They seem to be some really high quality Hiwatt clones, and they have a DR201 that just looks sweet. I looked at the Reeves C225 for a while, but a few things, including not being 30" wide (I think the box looks funny without the additional width past the end of the control panel, nitpicky, I know), only having 2 inputs, and a slightly more bass-oriented EQ (with an apparently fairly noticeable mid-scoop). The Hi-Tone is just a straight up, un-tweaked DR201 design. 30" wide (will sit nicely on top of my Sunn cabs), 4 inputs (2 each for Normal/Brilliant instead of just 2, also no active/passive switch, I never use actives), no DI out (again, I never use a DI, and the lack of one means it's either mic'd or carried with stage volume). There's also the SAP 200, which is apparently based on a prototype possibly intended for Roger Waters if memory serves me correctly and similar to the ones used by Jimmy Page, that has a switchable boost/cut and a slightly different EQ. ANYWHO, just wondering if anyone had heard or witnessed these amps. I can't find much about them on bass forums, but some guitar players seem to love them. Not really thinking of replacing my Sunns anytime soon, but it might be nice down the line to have an amp that isn't vintage to take out instead of lugging the Sunns around to every gig. I have a stereo output bass now, so I'd be particularly interested in the two separate channel volumes. It'd also be a return to a master volume amp, haven't used one of those in a looooong time.
