Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Snagged a PD-7 within Europe! Also feeling like I'm spending too much. Mentioned it to a friend and he pointed out that I'm at least not sitting in an alley doing heroin, so I'm fine. But I think I'll be reducing spending soon, so I fear I'll end up in that alley regardless

I've found out this year that the less I play with the band, the more tempted I am to buy and try new gear to try to achieve different textures and writing approaches for songs. I've completely revisited my gain staging in the last 2 months, got a new switcher inbound, picked up an H9 and integrated a second amp into my set up.... God knows if any of it will work with the band when we get back to rehearsals!! ... hopefully it will do, and ultimately it's loads of fun and opens creative doors. The only rule I'm trying to stick to is dont go any bigger than a PT2 and shift gear that is no longer needed.

I hear you. I've been spending money like I'm allergic to it lately. I can console myself with the knowledge it's on useful stuff like music gear, new windows for my house, etc. Still, like you I want to reduce the spending soon.

Hahaha, love your new avatar @lucas303

And congrats on the PD-7, @YawningJorin

But yeah, no playing together is more playing alone is looking for a lot of different sounds is spending a lot of money.
That’s partially why I got an HX Stomp. I still have other stand alone effects, but my delay, verb, and modulation are covered by the stomp. At least for now.

yeah, I got a Md-200 in the hope it would fill the modulation 'needs'. But now I discovered I really like phaser, so I need more pedals.

Also, I'm weak... So weak... I just bid on a local PD-7

Hehehe, I love phasers, too. I've got a Univox PHZ-1 that I loves. I need to either clone it or get someone to make me a pedal version, because it's a pain to use live. It'd have to have the "Video Counter", though. I'm a complete sucker for that kind of thing.

The smudges on the front are from firecrackers the last time I used it live.

I'm not well informed about the situation in the USA, but lately I have been thinking about the fact that it's entirely possible that the COVID measures will last until next April-May. And some of them are just plain stupid. My drummer must come to Turin to risk his life working at the ER, but he can't stop in Turin after work to play with one single person in a private space we don't share with anyone. While people can go to the f.ing HAIRDRESSER and and f.ing SHOPPING MALLS and the f.ing CHURCH.
And I haven't seen my family in one year, and probably won't see them again until next summer. But I must go everyday to work by bus, to do a job I could have done from home. A bus full of idiots not wearing their face masks, and no one punishes them. Ever.
I'm so p!$$ed off. Feels like a whole life thrown down the toilet for no reason.
