Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Yeah, I've debated stalling for now and waiting until USPS is ready. I just listed this stuff, so it's not like it's been up forever waiting, and I don't NEED to sell anything. Patience is a virtue and all that.
Probably accurate. I keep waffling. Guy's Reverb store seems to check out, but his FB page hasn't been touched since July.
If something doesn't feel right and you're not desperate for the money, probably best to go with your gut.
That said, I don't use Facebook at all and I don't rip people off...heck, his abstaining from Facebook could be a sign of good character!
Sadly, this is a true statement. I'm gonna go with my gut for now. See if he pursues this further, as I responded to his offer and told him to let me know if he's still interested. I'm sure he's wanting a huge discount to make it more profitable for his business, and I get the feeling I won't be giving him enough profit margin.
Maybe suggest selling off just one chunk for now, like 2-3 pedals, and if that sale goes smoothly then you sell him the rest?
This may be a good idea. That way if something does go south, you're not left with nothing.
Yeah, he came back with his "final offer". Not gonna happen unless I get desperate. As I figured, he wants enough margin to make a profit for his business, which I can't blame him for. But he's wanting a 25% discount, and that's before I pay shipping and take the hit on PayPal fees. No thanks. I can wait until I find a buyer.
Does anyone know of any bands that blend the atmospherics and shoegaziness of post-metal with doom, particularly on the heavier side of doom?
The reason I ask is my band is headed in exactly that direction, and I couldn't think of anyone that neatly fits that description. We've got a couple originals sketched out, with another song in the germination stage. It's been slow going, but I'm optimistic. I think a realistic goal for 2021 will be to have a few originals and a cover in shape and maybe even having a demo of that stuff recorded.

Not really doom but I really like how Torche and HUM incorporate ambient elements with heavy riffs.
I definitely love Hum but I was thinking of something that goes even heavier in the heavy parts.
In a funny sort of way I'd say deftones, but I know that's not what you mean. Old Man Gloom would fit this a bit though; well less so on the shoe gaze. I'm curious as hell to hear what you all end up with.
@Novarocker I love the look of those heads. Mean as, and ashdown valve amps sound glorious. Even with my gt200, I have serious amp envy. Very well played, love to hear and feel it full throttle
Thanks guys! Sorry it took a bit to reply. I never thought I'd have the chance to own one. So glad I've had a chance to turn it up too. Crazy how I stumbled on their wearhouse clearout sale. And this one is even rarer than the regular 400w ones. It's only 300, but it's more than enough.
I've never seen one of their tube amps in person. Oddly enough the owner, Mark Gooday, wired and built it himself! Took him about a month, then it got held up in shipping, but so worth it.
It's a unique amp in that it has a SS preamp but also preamp tubes that can be blended in and driven hard too. And then that killer power section. It is heavy, bout 70-75 pounds, but worth it. It's unreal how it can blend between the bloom and push of a tube amp but still have the immediacy of ss. I can't recommend their ABM preamp enough, it can be so simple if you just want to use the BMT, but then you can really dial in with the sliders if desired. Even on the lead sled it's great, but the tube power amp takes it to another level.
I had heard of HUM but never checked em out till recently, great stuff! Torche is one I need to listen to again, it's been so long.
Check out Black Math Horseman and other projects by Sera Timms. It's not that heavy, but it's definitely along the lines
threw together an aby switch for my stereo looping board. there's a loop for one of the channels to patch on my other little board with a couple overdrives and a bunch of delay pedals. much more useful that the ehx switchblade I've been using. now i have no excuse besides laziness to not record some live demos (my goal is to have a set together with my drum machine whenever live shows happen again... which is probably like 2025 with how florida is...)
Saw the TB normies thumbing their noses up at this. I think it's pretty cool. PJ pickups, but def going for RIC style placement and vibe. It is an active bass, so not totally retro.
$650 and coming out in April. Also in black and red. Never owned a Jackson, but always liked their necks.
