Trying to get some ideas for a new band practice space. The other few formal places here are booked up. Anyone have experience going an alt route like a storage unit, etc? Home is not a good option for either of us.

I tried a storage unit once. Problem was it didn't have any outlets and one light fixture. We plugged our gear into a socket adapter but we kept tripping the breaker. It was like one 15 amp breaker for several units because it was only supposed to be lightbulbs on the circuit. It was cold and we couldn't run heaters, let alone our amps. Having people in the space and playing music out if the unit also wasn't technically allowed, though we didn't stay there long enough to get busted. I can't really think of anything else other than trying to find someone who wants to share their space to reduce costs? Have you explored that? I found a space mate on craigslist before.
Hey friends! I'm back in the code factory now after the holidays. Been doing a lot of 3D prints and studying electronics in my time off. Getting more comfortable in EAGLE and getting into the electronics mindset is a lot of fun. Trying to design a kind of pedal platform for versatility. Maybe I can bring something new to the table after all

This is probably of nearly zero help for you @br1qbat but I'm setting up a space in my house. I recently got an electronic drum kit, and if the mixing board I ordered ever arrives I'll be able to have everyone plug in and give each person their own headphone mix so we can jam without making a ton of noise. I tried a similar setup at a dude's place a few times and liked it a lot. So if bothering the neighbors is a concern for you, that's one idea.
Bothering neighbors isn't the worry for me. I have a good sized home, but no real basement [tri-level] and do have 3 kids, a wife, and a mother in law to annoy.
The drummer used to live in an apartment, but now lives with his gf and I'm pretty sure she's not crazy about a loud band in her basement. For him, he was up there more than anyone to play his set, often 3 or 4 times a week.

Build a jam shack in your yard out of old pallets and scrap metal 
I've been dreaming of converting a shipping container into a studio space for like...as long as I've had a Darkglass pedal on my board...
I've hacked together a working rig very similar in my house. All SS amps, so no loads necessary. Depending on volume needs (or lack of volume needs) we can go from full volume, to just PA, to headphone amps just by unplugging a few cables. Also, any of those can be done simultaneously and all while being recorded. It's not exactly studio quality anything, but it's workable in a pinch and serves my needs.
We could do all quiet if we have to. He has some kind of of e-drum set for at home. My quilter can run with no speaker load. But I want to have a proper situation sorted out.

Good lord that head is huge! Those glowing tubes are giving me that nice fuzzy feeling. I was cold and now I'm not lol!
@Novarocker I love the look of those heads. Mean as, and ashdown valve amps sound glorious. Even with my gt200, I have serious amp envy. Very well played, love to hear and feel it full throttle

The dirt pedal upsets continue. The B3K fell to the PD7 a few weeks ago, and today, I'm thinking the Swollen Pickle may officially replace my beloved Pharaoh Supreme. I did a 3 way comparison between the Pharaoh Supreme, Swollen Pickle, and my newly arrived Russian Pickle. It was tough to do, but the Pickles both kept more bass in the mix (not that the Pharaoh cuts lots of bass or anything), which surprised me. Additionally, they both sounded more "natural" and less harsh in their distortion. Of course, given the flexibility of the Swollen Pickle and Pharaoh Supreme, I didn't go through all possible settings. But based on my favorite settings for each, I found the Swollen Pickle to be a better fit. Both can be made very similar distortion-wise, but the Pickle was always slightly smoother in the bass and retained more lows.
The Russian Pickle is somewhat tamer as well, but can be made similarly dirty and nasty (again, compared to my favorite settings on the other pedals), but it is definitely the smoothest of the three. It seems to be more low mid-focused instead of the higher mid focus of the other two. It's also got far less volume and dirt overall. To achieve similar dirt tones, the distortion must be at noon or higher, whereas the SP is at 8:00ish, and the Pharaoh's fuzz knob is about 10:00 (the pre knob is at 3:00, but I also reduced this throughout to increase the bass response - no doubt it helped, but was still not as prominent the Pickles).
Still not sure if I prefer the Swollen or Russian Pickle. Both are great. I wish that the volume between the both of them would be in the middle. The Swollen has so much volume on tap, and the Russian needs to be at the minimum around noon (and often around 2-3:00) for unity. I realize that the Russian is a direct clone of a single Russian Muff (apparently one of Jeorge Tripps' friends wanted an exact clone of his exact Muff), and that is what we have - low volume and all. I can respect that, but still wish it could be pushed for more volume to make lower dirt settings possible.
Anyway, sorry for the ramble. I figured if there was any place to have a long-winded discussion about various muff clones, this would be the place.

Put up a large ad on CL to list a bunch of stuff yesterday, and have a guy in California wanting ALL of it. It's not an insignificant amount, and I've found his reverb store and all that, so he seems legit. But I'm not sure. Anybody ever ship a bunch of stuff cross country (US, that is - larger than most!) and have any input? It's not like I NEED to sell anything, but as always, a little extra cash for some gear never hurts. And this would be more than a little.
Anyway, my gut says no. Not worth the risk. Then I'm out gear and cash if anything happens.

I buy and ship sh1t all the time to and from all over the world. As long as the payment goes thru (Paypal) and they pay for shipping (I pad a little because shipping can get wildly expensive quickly), there's nothing to think much about other than how to pack the box well and how to spend your new money.

Yeah, it's a bunch of pedals, so it could likely fit in one of the USPS $20 flat rate boxes, but I'm just not sure. The amount could definitely pay for some cabs I've been debating lately, and some new pickups for my guitars, with a little extra for more pedals... Like I said - not an insignificant amount! I suppose my main concern is insurance. Does PayPal automatically have some sort of insurance or anything? I'm sure USPS insurance would be fairly expensive.
