Oh man, this one is harder to figure out than the others. It's like the big multi-parameter big brother of the Space Mod-Delay-Tor, which is another favorite of mine from the Mystery Effect series. I have a lot less of an idea what each knob does than usual, but I loves it. I'm totally jealous of yours. The "Duncan" on the moon was completely flooded out on mine. I wouldn't have known it was there if it wasn't for your pic.
I believe that there's still one more Mystery Effect slated for this year. I hope it materializes, and it's worth waiting till Christmas for.
I have to totally agree. The more I play this little bass, the more I like it. It's got $90 worth of pickup in a bass that cost around $115 new, but I can't see much of a reason to replace anything else. The tuners on this one have been through the ringer and two have pretty good bends on them, but they stay in tune and have held up really well. Most of the open backed cloverleaf tuners in my life have been as durable as these. The bridge doesn't seem to need replacing either. It's a big heavy piece of sheet metal held on by seven screws. My 80s MIJ Fender Precisions are the same construction, but only held on with five screws.
I have found one thing "broken" on it. The tone control, she does nothing. It could use a pick guard, too. The original one is warped from spending time in a car during a Texas summer. Ehh, that's cosmetic. My MIM Mustang has had the same issue for years. It plays just fine, so I don't really worry about it.
Come to think of it, I think the pickups are probably the only thing wrong with my SX tele, really. I need to get off my butt and replace them.
Hehe, I live in central Texas. It's hard to find a hill that presents a challenge to anything more than a bicycle around here.
But you do hear of them being set up occasionally. Rallies here are usually just people navigating within time constraints. Rallycross is interesting, though. It's basically an autocross on rough-ish terrain. I've thought about bringing the WRX to one of those.

Man, I waited wayyy too long to reply to this, but I did give it a listen. His tone is very nice for a clean tone, and it's not that piano-ish tone that Alembic is known for. I actually kind of like the Dead's jammy parts, and I've been known to listen to the local radio show that plays nothing but them for a bit. But they'll eventually get into something like a mellow version of "Not Fade Away", and I'll feel compelled to change the station.
After listening to it I asked my wife, who's the lady who introduced me to the Melvins, if she thought me becoming a person who listened to a lot of the Grateful Dead would be a deal breaker, and would end in D-I-V-O-R-C-E.
She thought about it for a minute or so, and with a tone that made me think she was probably serious responded with, "No. But if you became a person who listened to Phish all the time, there'd be a problem."

I think I have to opposite problem. I tried my new bass once with a strap and the entire thing shifted like 10/15cm to the left. It really felt unnatural.

There's a Glarry P bass at a local shop. I don't need it, and I think I prefer double humbuckers, but it intrigues me nonetheless.
Maybe this will convince you that you don't want it: None of the SX bodies or necks are compatible with an actual Fender. So, no swapping with anything but other SX guitars.
yeah pretty sure i've been here from the start. it was crazy how active the thread was. there was a time where it was probably the most active on TB.

Always been a semi avid fan of racing. Love it, never have time to follow it all the time. Moto GP, F1, and hill climbs are my favorites. Got one of these in the jam room.

Lol thanks. I'm excited for the next one too, curious if he'll try to fit in another. I've kinda got a feel for the knobs, but they do all have a huge range and seem to be real interactive.
Once I happened into an old Stoner/Doom thread, #45 or something, from when threads were limited to 1000 posts. The thread had reached that quotum in all of ten days.
