You actually just raised my playing confidence level a little bit by posting this bc I’m playing a P w/ Geezer EMGs and SH77 flats…

Especially when I’m down-tuned tune I constantly find myself gravitating to the 8-12th fret something about that location on the neck makes we hang out there especially if I’m down-tuned…

I have worried this is “wrong” from a technique standpoint as I get/understand that those notes are also on the A string-I just like the way the lowest string sounds and it’s actually a little bit more ergonomically comfortable…

As for my flats-I intend to (literally) never take them off as they are starting to sound more and more like the kind of tone I’m seeking…

@El_Charro If I were you I'd look long and hard at the Ibanez PD7. They seem to be slowly creeping up in price so I'd say just get one and mess with it. You might find it can cover a LOT of ground. Worst case scenario hold onto it a bit and then I bet you could sell and at worst break even buy you might even be able to make a couple bucks.

Looking at Reverb they're apparently already going way up in price. There's one for $75 though with a dodgy attack switch but you don't need that. Grab it before I do!

Going way up in asking price; price guide reveals they’re selling in the $80 range.

Kiss is one of those bands that just never did it for me, even though they're pretty much universally liked. I don't dislike them, to be clear.

That said, I wonder if people criticizing Gene Simmons are the same people who would criticize Ringo.

Y'all's thoughts? So basically how you get this is signing up for a loot box type thing through third man which is $75 quarterly or $280 annually (so $70 quaterly). IMO this is worth it if you don't have dopesmoker on vinyl already. I wonder if when they add it back to streaming services if hot lava man will be available to listen to as well. Worst comes to worst it'll definitely be on youtube but I'd really like Dopesmoker back plus some new stuff on Sleep's streaming services...

Putting aside my own feelings about vinyl, objectively I don't understand the appeal of Dopesmoker on vinyl. The piece gets interrupted by having to flip the record.

Lmao this is very true, as someone who has it on vinyl already it just feels like different songs at that point. AND as someone who has it on vinyl already I find it hard to justify getting it again. I really like hot lava man though, I hope it'll get a separate release eventually...

Meh…. last thing anybody needs is another classic album that has a new “definitive” remastered version put out every few years.

i'll give them this, they really found a way to earn a few bucks from the same 10 songs over 30 years.

Those exact pedals, I'm not sure, but a decent muff clone - yes, it definitely can do more than stoner/doom. For instance, in my recent muff shootout, I found that I could play old school Metallica and Sabbath on the same muff and even with the same settings. For reference, it's lower gain muff tones, but still, it can be done. It worked just fine for both mixes.
