Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I upgraded my Pedalboard with this today. Nothing else to report.

Is that a patchbay? Digital switcher? Placebo? 1/4" power supply? Micromixer? Effectsloop? Freudian hole'n'plug?

It's quiet here. So I'll bore you guys with my search of a new bass.

I've put my Gretsch up for sale, and was looking at getting the Jet II, but with the humbucker debacle that LowEndLobster uncovered I'm also looking at different basses.

Maybe I finally cave in and get a Danelectro. Or retry the Höfner.
ooh, the demos of the Epiphone Embassy Pro sound awesome and the bass looks awesome. Maybe I do need a long scale bass.

I know this has been said ad nauseum all over TB, but, I just watched a show Primus recorded in a radio station's jam room, and Les Claypool is Final Boss level good on bass.
And he is able to compliment his skill with a huge amount of creativity, and the willingness to go his own way. He's one of the greats in modern music IMO.

Indeed. He's put out 34 albums under Primus and other bands, and tons of appearances on other peoples work. Prolific, inventive, virtuosic, pretty much the hat trick of being awesome.

I grabbed this sexy beast off of Craigslist yesterday. She's been rode hard and put away wet on a many a night. She needs a little TLC, including two tuners, so I think it might be a candidate for an EGC neck. As one of the switches is already broken, I'm going to rewire the electronics. T-40's have this weird thing where the pups switch from dual coil to single coil when the tone knob is turned up past 7. The broken switch is a phase switch, which is not a sound I dig. I'm going to make the phase switch into a coil tap. For now, I'm going with some basic knobs, the original Peavey knobs are absurdly speedy on Reverb.

I'm VERY intrigued with how an EGC neck will sound. Keep us posted!

That seemed like a great deal. Glad someone on here snagged it. That pickup thing is such an odd design. I would definitely just wire it up like a normal two pickup bass. If you get an EGC neck, some of their knobs would be a really nice touch.

I like that idea! Now to choose between chrome and black...

Black - especially with that natural wood grain. I feel like chrome gets kinda lost sometimes, and black looks cooler - even with the black PG behind it. I know some people think mixing black/chrome hardware is a sin, but sinning is the cool thing to do, anyway.

Sweet something of someplace! T40s and their knobs have appreciated! When I was a lad, back before the turn of the century, you could get a T40 for what a set of knobs’d run you now.
