Are you running super-heavy strings on that? Seems odd they'd break like that. Also, whilst scrolling the page again, I noticed, and applaud you for, having a manual transmission in your Jeep.

Makes sense. With what are you going to replace them? I've used Gotoh, and Sperzel (as non-brand), and both have worked out fine.
Why is it distortion/dirt pedals need to be named/imaged with pain and evil? Lol. I want a pink one called "The Gossamer Rainbow".

CO Doomers/ies!! My beautiful GF is paying for a trip to Denver in January for my birthday. I'm definitely gonna want to catch some metal shows (preferably S/D of course). Could y'all give me some good venue recommendations for around the downtown Denver area? Do y'all know of any big names coming around mid-late January? If any of y'all want to catch some shows together LMK
Most venue calendars are a little thin for the new year right now. Not to say they aren't booked, but a lot of those pages don't announce/update until that 2-3 month mark. Keep your eyes peeled at Ogden, Marquis, Oriental, Bluebird, Gothic, Hi-Dive, and Larimer.

That's the one. Got any settings you like? Spent today really tweaking and comparing the Bass Mountain and Iron Pig. The Bass Mountain seems inherently "clankier", but not excessively so. Small tweaks on it make big changes. There's definitely a lot more tones in there that I'd likely ever need from a Rat, but I'm digging it. I think it's great as my second Rat, and I definitely prefer it to my Cat Tail. It's not quite as natural sounding as my Iron Pig, but again, that runs at 18v and the Mountain is only 9v. Either way, both are great, and I'm a happy bassist right now with my boards.
I think I may soon have dirt done on both of my boards. The aim has always been to get similar sounds out of two different boards, and only repeat pedals that are either cheap and readily available or essential utility pedals. So here are my 1st/2nd pedals for various dirt so far.
"Tube" OD - Pork Loin (that's it!)
Rat - Iron Pig/Bass Mountain
Muff - Pharaoh Supreme/Swollen Pickle
HM-2 - Throat Locust/Heavier Metal
"Metal" Distortion - Ibanez PD7
Regarding pink pedals, there are a slew of hot pink and neon pedals that are heavy. Old DOD pedals come to mind, as well as the current Behringer HM300 (HM-2 clone) which is bright pink. I like the artwork on a lot of pedals, but definitely think that sometimes it's a bit over the top. Some people try a bit too hard. Ultimately, though - it's whatever sounds good that matters.

Yeah! So I have some thoughts about this pedal and these are my settings on it.
This is how I found the settings I liked, after weeks of messing around with it.
Mosfet clipping - sounds better than the LED in my opinion. The break up of sound is more natural and less artificial to my ear.
Then, volume to the max, blend at 0, gain at 0. Gain shape and tone at noon. Blend to 25, you'll hear that the volume drops - compensate with gain to get whatever amount of dirt you want, for me it's at like 15% or so. I get some saturation, volume boost and some fuzz but not enough to mess with my bass tone. Turn the volume knob down until the volume of the entire thing is the same whether bass mountain is on or off (that is my preference) and set the tone knob so that the sound frequency (not sure if that is the correct term - I turn the knob around to find a spot until the sound while not playing anything and while bass mountain is on, the "hiss", is no longer able to be perceived and distinguished between the pedal being on or off) stays at the same volume. Then I use the gain shape knob to match the tone of the unit to my bass tone, so that my bass tone fully comes thru and all I hear is fuzziness added on top of it which gives it a lot of character.
Does that make sense? It's kinda complex but I think this is the best way I could describe the whole thing. I've spent quite a while fiddling with this thing and I really like it.
I've noticed that this box has quite a strong voice of its own, hence why my blend knob is set to 25% only. Not a fan of how this pedal thins out the sound. Feels like it drops some bass, maybe boosts some mids? I wouldn't even know where to start with an analysis like that, would probably need a frequency analyzer since my ear is not that good yet - but it definitely thins out the sound somewhat or adds quite a bit of its own thing, which personally doesn't work for me - I like to keep my bass tone alive and well, not masked by any pedals.
I definitely love it and its a keeper for sure. I got it because I was looking for a replacement for a darkglass alpha omicron and this thing was complex enough yet not overwhelming and it sounded hella good to my ear. It was battling a damnation audio curmudgeon, OBNE Haunt from 21' and whatever else I forgot about.
So yeah. Oh and the art on it is sick
