Branson kinda sucks but I'm glad you had a nice time. We live ~ 3 hrs away and went this summer with my wife's family instead of the Lake Of the Ozarks and it was hot and very white trash lol
The town of Branson I agree. Absolute tourist trap. The Ozarks are beautiful though. We don't really have terrain like that in Texas barring the hill country kind of. We visited top of the rock and they have great views, trails, and an excellent museum on mostly Midwest/Plains Native Americans as well as the general history of the state. My only gripes are that it's privately ran so they nickle and dime you a little and for as much as the place is supposed to be about natural preservation they sure do have a nice golf course
. But seriously the museum is one of the best I've ever visited, there's so much cool stuff in there, like Geronimo's rifle!! I also went to silver dollar city which IMO was way better than Six flags over Texas and even Disney in a lot of ways. Good rides and every building was at least lined in lights and some were completely covered.
As far as the white trash goes that's just part of it in the midwest lmao!

Well, not anymore! My old 400RB just made a loud pop noise and is now silent. If I crank the pregain and disengage the pad I can barely hear anything... Guess it's tech time.
EDIT: That was a few hours ago. I just re-seated all of the connections leading in/out of the amp, and it's back to how it was. It still has a minor hum (NOT amp hiss) coming from it, but I've spent I don't know how many hours trying to figure that one out (my 700RB is dead silent) and it has always evaded me.
Anyway, it still may be tech time. I've always wanted to figure out the hum, and this time when it "died", the hum increased a good deal (as well as the volume) just before it popped. For a bit afterwards when I played, the volume faded in and out slightly. Maybe there's a loose connection, or something that intermittently grounds out but is always causing interference? Anybody here have thoughts?

As I unfortunately age, I agree with this more and more
Christmas ended well, but it looked shaky at first as my wife got COVID. I learned from last time and barricaded in the upstairs guest room and managed to not catch it. She got better by Xmas though and we got to celebrate and cook. Made a scratch key lime pie for the first time that turned out better than most that I have ever had.
Musically, reworked my pedal board and took time to dial in my Positive Grid Bias head a bit. I bought back a Pro Tone Rhino pedal (think MXR Blue Box) that I used to own years ago that popped up for sale locally. I’m going to experiment stacking this thing with my Blackout Effectors Twosome fuzz. This combo was a huge part of my guitar rig 10 years ago but I know there is untapped potential for this on bass with my now mostly passive bass army. My first attempts were running my Frankenstein Jazz bass through the Rhino into the Fix’d Fuzz side of the Twosome pedal, which ended up making some nasty (awesome), thick, analog synth fuzz tone almost like an amp being pushed to oblivion. Gotta work on limiting noise though.

Mildly buzzifying and pain relieving. As a refreshing bevy, it was junk.
Was ust perusing the 2022 bass acquisition roundup thread in Basses. Man, some sweet gear is there. I, being a miser, bought only a Joyo pedal this year.
That’s a bummer. Hope you get it sorted out. Those amps are legit classics I fear will just fade away. Nearly bought one just pre-pandemic but couldn’t justify the price with no band or gigs. I believe I made an offer of $150. Ah, pre- pandemic prices. Shout out Casey and Twin Town!
oh, and my stock amp repair advice: is there an fx loop? If so, clean the
jacks. They’re often switching jacks and dirt/dust/corrosion will cause them to fail.
Just dropped it off at the tech. Should hopefully have it back mid-February-ish. It DOES have an FX loop, but I always use it, so it's bridged, and I have cleaned it in case. I highly doubt that's what it is. I posted an in-depth troubleshooting post in the GK thread, but long story short, I think it's a loose connection/component starting to fail/cold solder joint in the preamp. Let's hope the tech can sort it out no problem and it's back in action sooner rather than later.
I aspire to be that miserly in the coming year. My plan (like that's going to be followed...) is to spend the year fixing/upgrading the minor things in my current rig and downsizing the pedal hoard (which has already started). Getting a pedal or two fixed up, upgrading a preamp in a bass, maybe new pickups for my guitar? But trying NOT to acquire a bunch more stuff!
Yeah, I played guitar a while yesterday after my bass amp was acting funny. I was playing a chord heavy song I'm working on. My hands and wrist DO NOT like doing lots of chord work. Guess it's just fast stuff for me... Or, you know, bass.
Ah, I feel ya, brother. Those cowboy chords just don't work with the knobby, semi-immovable joints.
Man can we just find a new drummer already? The downtime is killing me. I need to get loud.

And speaking of which... anybody ever try a Way Huge Purple Platypus or Angry Troll? Are they decent? I've been offered them in trade for some stuff I'm trying to get rid of locally, but I'm not sure I'll use them. I've never had either, and I DO love Way Huge pedals, though. From quick internet research, the Platypus just seems a bit odd, which might be cool, and the Troll seems like a fairly straightforward clean to dirty boost - though some people say it's a bit dark. If it IS dark,, I don't want it, as I typically use a boost for a slight bit more treble. Anyway - thoughts/experiences appreciated.
