Phenomenal. I can't describe them any other way than that. They seemed like they were having a blast and watching them (and even moshing) was some of the most fun I've ever had at a show.
Well, Hoxey started to make aluminum necks with nickel fretwire. Needless to say I jumped on one of their T-40 builds. I still need to shim the neck but it’s perfectly functional for fingerstyle now.
Wow, lovely. Plus, it looks like you can get those beautiful black block inlays on the Fender replacements. I need to replace a tuner on my Squire Jazz. If I gotta re-string it anyway...
Zoot with their heavy take on Eleanor Rigby from 1970. Busting out from their bubblegum image. Shame the band was gone within 12mths. I think they could have been Australia's Black Sabbath if they stuck with the heavy riffing and forged a harder edge . Instead that crown went to Buffalo. For those not familiar with the band, lead guitarist Rick Springfield went onto pop rock stardom in the U.S and T.V fame. Bass player Beeb Birtles was a founding member of the Little River Band.
I reckon this is not only the best cover of Eleanor Rigby, but better than the original. And the original is iconic for the sombre, dark lyrics and general tone of the song.

Good look on the aluminum necks! Always wanted to try one, but just never lined one up at a price point I dig.
Also, for anyone that is a pedal/heavy/wild sound addict, I gotta say Matt at Idiotbox has been on an epic, non-stop crescendoing, tear of pedal releases. Seems to be only picking up steam! Hell, I feel like it's been almost near 18 months of regular & limited releases and they're all ranging from damn good to straight epic sounding pedals. I'm flat out hooked. I need to move some of em on, but keep hesitating because they're all that good!
Way back, I mentioned to him the idea of just having him invoice me every time he's got a new one in the pipeline. I may have to revisit that idea...
Oddly enough too, what I get reminded of more and more, is how much experimenting with a pedal is key to really unlocking it. Got the recent TK421 reissue and was kinda meh, it's great and all, but not something that I have to have. Then I fed it more dirt and also tried it at the end of the chain. Holy smokes, better than having a blend pedal if you have some dirt that just loses some heft.

It’s their magnum opus imo. Absolutely outstanding record.

I was considering the TK basically because of the art lol. Just didn't quite understand what it actually does so I skipped it. What does it do?

I'll have to try a clip, but basically a bass and treble/presence boost/emphasis. A bit subtle, or just less in your face with a clean tone. After dirt and it really opens up.
I have a pretty terrible demo of my older TK421 here (please forgive my indifferent bass playing):
Short version, it's an EQ that's really quite good at adding beef back to a distortion circuit that cuts bass.
Totally forgot you did that demo! It's wild how much more of an impact it has on dirt eh?
It really is. I don't know how Matt figured out the EQ points that you'd want to mess with on just about every distortion/fuzz, but he did. When I bought it, I really kind of just grabbed it because it was a relatively rare IdiotBox, and $115 for an EQ pedal didn't seem too bad. I found out the same thing you did. On a clean bass signal, it's nothing to write home about. On dirt, it almost always has some nice tone shaping to offer.
Hehehe, you're very welcome, and thank you. Five years later, I'm far more polished at just about every skill needed to make a video, especially recording the audio. Those intro/outro tunes are rough.
Also, I think I deliver the monologue like I'm on PBS or something. It's like I'm trying to lull you into sleep before I jolt you back awake with a fuzz bass.

I got mine spec’ed out to $485 including taxes. It’s the most affordable one out there at the moment.
Yeah, I'm even game for the base model, just add a nut. Hell, I'm wicked tempted to grab one right now. Gotta move some stuff first, but it's high on the list norlw for sure.
In other bass news, I'm really trying to hold off on the SBMM dart bass. Don't need it, but I really like it.

Not to rub salt in the wound but…yeah, these colours rock. Glad I preordered.
That does looks sweet! I've been on the fence lately about colored records. I love em for sure, but I definitely lean towards just getting black if I'm going to play it a lot. Other colors besides black (and especially true for translucent/clear) are much softer due to the loss of hardness from the different pigmentation. In otherwords, for vinyl, carbon black is about as hard as it gets, everything else is elementary softer (in varying degrees).
In a nutshell they wear faster than black and you'll lose clarity and get fuzziness in everything faster. I'm certainly no materials scientist, but being familiar with pigmentation particles, the science appears sound and rings true in my personal experience. YMMV, and I'm not an expert in vinyl pigmentation or polymers. Hell I'm not even a deep expert on auto coatings either, and that's my profession...
That said, I'll still spring for color, especially if it comes with other things like additional art, etc. But otherwise I due tend toward black if I think I'll play it a lot.

Yeah, no idea how Matt keeps killing it, time and again and again. Whether he understands the math, or is just some crazy good wizard/user/insert title here and just figures it out, he does a hell of a job on design.
I dig the vid, and the monologue, reminds me of all the DIY punk stuff from days past.
Yeah I’m with you there, mate. 90% of my collection is on black. Only coloured records I have are either because they didn’t have/press black variants or for special circumstances like this Bongripper record. I’m not one to buy multiple variants either - I buy to play so the more I can get out of the record over time the better.
I will say that these pressings are excellent quality. Nice thick wax. I’ve had issues in the past with previous Bongripper records being pressed on dodgy or thinner wax but these last couple records have been nothing short of solid quality pressings.
