Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I "Meh." into the void. It ignores me.

Been way to busy and stressed the last few months to get much bass playing (or anything relaxing) in. Being grounded and immobilized to a great extent most of the past year due to plantar fasciitis took a toll on me physically AND mentally. Now that it's hopefully on its way out, I'm determined to fix that. Getting my schedule in order, prioritizing my health (both mental and physical), and setting up my headphone rig. Gonna get things figured out and stick to positivity and what I can do to help myself. Wish me luck - two days of exercise in and I'm tired and sore! Playing a little bass too - gotta start somewhere! I'm not as horribly rusty as I expected, thank goodness.

As I can’t keep up with everything, would the more astute among you survey this rundown and assess its validity for me?

In other words, are they full of crap, or spot on? Any favorites?

Seriously considering buying a Magic Pedals DA120 (which is the old Dunwich DA120) which is a boosted Matamp GT120 preamp done in mosfets. Its more a overdrive pedal than a preamp style pedal (perfect for my needs/wants).

Anybody ever have one of these bad boys? I will never be able to reasonably afford a Matamp nor do I have the space to lug one to gigs. But that the dirt tone is one of my holy grails.

I received my new Bass and shared it in the Aluminum Neck club! for the curious.

Now i just need a DOOM project to to play in! In the meantime any suggestions for good doom in BEAD?
You're gonna be mad...

I just picked up a used Thunderclapper 4 to hold me over until my 5 gets here. Four should be here tomorrow.

Too many Dunables.

Not much time to play the past few days, but still trying to get on the "good vibes" train. Doing fairly well, just life in the way. Nothing bad, all standard, good type of stuff - just want to play! Still, keeping it positive, enjoying reading some stuff I've wanted to get to and enjoying watching some movies/TV that I enjoy. I bought a second BAT Priestess pedal for my guitar rig that I was waiting for a decent deal on - I swear, that is the absolute perfect fuzz for my needs. Both guitar and bass, it just nails the fuzz tone I want. Amazing for stoner/doom in all regards. My pedal GAS continues to subside as I buy the few pedals I have this year. Maybe next year I buy just the 1 or 2 to complete my OCD collection (not a collection of OCD pedals, just my own OCD tendencies...) - I really have no interest in anything new lately. Thank goodness!

Got a little extra coin in my picket.

Decided against the DA120. Did order a much more utilitarian and boring device - a Lehle P-splitter III. The Boss LS-2 I've been using, while great for lots of stuff, does not have a ground lift and I've had way too many ground loops & noise problems on the dirt half of my split signal. Plus this thing is passive and can also be used as a DI box as well.

Still contemplating picking up one of Frost Giant's takes on the Russian big muffs (green or black) for something for funsies.

But the top priority is getting my beloved Gibson in for a re-fret, a new nut, etc.

Out of the four Dunables I've had or have, it may be the best playing. The DE Gnarwhal with the dual Ps is my number 1 but it's in danger of being dethroned. Tomorrow with the band will decide.
It was on sale on here for a long while right?
I need to find a way to get one used...I know that's my 2026 mission. It's the only nass I got GAS for...
