Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

The real one or the remake?

The OG version is definitely worth your time. I haven't seen the remake, but I haven't heard too many great things about it.

But that's probably because everyone I know who saw the remake, so the OG version first.
The remake. I didn't know there was an original one till I saw that in the credits. I want to see the original now. I dug it though but I'm not a harsh movie critic by any means.

I have had tons of root canals and caps over the years, but the worse was having my upper gum shaved. Doc kind of said oh no big deal I do this all the time I guess not to scare me. Doesn't put me under just numbs me all up and down. Pulls out a scalpel and uses my jaw as a guide for leverage and just slices my upper gum open on the left side. I felt like I was in Hostel except I couldn't feel the pain. Then pulls out the bone breaker, it's like tin snips for bone and he is snapping parts of my upper jaw off which shakes my head around pretty good while pieces of bone are falling on my tongue. All I could think about was that scalpel cut though the whole time. So he finishes up and sews me up. So I was like ok I survived, then he says ok time to do the other side! So afterword he says don't be thinking about it you will pass out just think good thoughts so I can let you drive yourself home. He said you are a brave dude never had a patient so chill as you for that procedure. So a month or so later I go in for the check up and he says oh man you healed great but yeah I need to do the front now see you in two weeks for that!!! I had two black eyes and head was all swollen for weeks but the worse part was the scalpel slices and the bone breaker, snip snip snip.

This is the stuff of nightmares!

I don't understand why Hollywood felt the need to remake of the original. The first one was so amazing and unsettling. No need to remake it, unless people don't like reading a movie.

Yeah, I feel a lot of remakes are pretty unnecessary, that one especially. Granted I have not seen it yet, but it just doesn't seem like it was needed. Same goes for Robocop, Total Recall, Point Break really that list can go on and on. None of them seem to do well either which is the most perplexing part of why they keep getting funded to be made.

Total Recall, to me, was especially uneccessary.

Just felt off, the whole time.

Point Break? I missed that. I saw the remake to Robo Cop, it was good. Total Recall, not so and I haven't seen the remake to Old Boy. Maybe after catching up on Dr Who. The wife and i started from the beginning and are watching a few eps a night. Has anyone seen the new Godzilla? I've heard god and bad, like story bad, Godzilla good.

The US cinema machine keeps making horrid retelling of killer foreign movies. The only one I can recollect enjoying was the remake of "The Ring".
I can't think of another remake of a foreign film that was any good, or that I could be bothered to see.
