Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

The last few pages are pure gold...

Yeah, the Hondo sounds fantastic, and it's fine for sitting around the house playing, but standing/actually practicing with it was quite uncomfortable. I'm looking around for a cheap but cool P-bass to swap the pickup into. So I can keep the awesome dimarzio, but play it in something I'm much more comfortable with.

Same thing with my Washburn...that's why I'm making it heavier and more than likely less comfortable and going with a walnut flying V body.

Also, I hope the whole heavy weezer thing works out man! Definitley think weezer has some heavy moments to them amd if ypu could take that, up it like one notch it would be fantastic. You should call yourselves Weeze, like how I am after a big bong rip...per

VEGA is opening for Windhand, Jex Thoth, and All Them Witches when they roll through the diaryland!!! Huzzah!!! The normal Milwaukee opener for this type of show had to back out and I swooped in like a rhino.

congrats max. you should tell Windhand to get Stone the Crows to open for them when they're down here later this year. hahaha.

Forgot to mention, when I met up with the drummer and guitarist for potential heavy weezer band. We tuned to C standard.

Used my Hondo and dropped it down a few steps. Guitarist was playing through 2 Sunn Model T reissues with 2 matching 4x12's sounded pretty awesome.

Was using pretty much the bongripper setup, just backed the gain off my DK a little bit.

I'll have to play around with things if we get this up and running, but if we're staying in C I definitely need to get strings with proper tension. I forgot how much just regular detuning sucks.

i use the thickest stainless rotos for C standard on my rick, too loose for some but works well for me.

I don't check in on this thread often (and I certainly never check in on the PW thread) but I'd just like to point out that technically the only reason the PW thread is allowed to exist and why various other religious club threads have been locked is because the PW thread is a non-denominational association for the discussion of performing music in the context of any religious activity.

This is to say, if any of your bands have a Druidic, Satanic, Pagan, Scientological, Pastafarian, or any other decided or implied spiritual bent to your compositions or philosophy, I think you owe it to the rest of TB to crash that festival with the utmost volume and blasphemy.

Hail Satan.
I tried that in the PW thread, figured riff/amp worship was close enough, I got the ban hammer.

Dagnabbit. I wanted to troll and ask if a hypothetical hindu/eastern music band could play.

Those P/W guys get scared/offended awfully fast though. A "hail Satan" or two and it's mass panic.

Trolling is a art.

Amplifier worship is clearly intentionally adversarial, but Hinduism and Satanism are real religions and thus are allowed in the thread - and presumably if you play in such a band at your respective house of worship, there's no reason why they wouldn't book you at that festival.

Who are you/anyone to say amp/riff worship isnt a real religion... I believe my amps when riffed on in the right way have magical healing powers. Also if there is a "real" religion based on the Big Lebowski, Dudeism, which I am ordained in believe it or not. Amps and riffs can have one too.

By all means, codify your beliefs and register for tax exempt status. It's basically as simple as that, and then they'll HAVE to put up with you in their thread.

And have your Dudeist band crash their festival.

Hey, I am an ordained Dudeism priest :D Even had the certificate printed somewhere.
...and I worship the Riff :]

Please don't get banned... as much as I would love to say certain things to certain members/groups on here, I LOVE being in this group and would rather ignore those other guys... you make this group great, stick around man :)
Probably just a temp ban, depending on if that one dude reported me.

What you say that got people mad? It all seemed even keeled for what was going on.
I told the dude who compared listening to live music with ear plugs to kissing through a screen door that if he felt that way about physical intimacy, he should get himself checked for STDs.

:p

Yes. Does that mean that Bongripper could play at it if they played just the Satan Worshiping Doom album?

I'm glad you took my example and ran with it.
Yeah, he didn't take too kindly to that. Can't imagine why.

Any place I play is a house of worship. As long as I am playing, the riff is being worshiped. I suspect this is even more the case with Mc Muench, since he's a reverend and all.
