Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I would rather listen to a good cover band than a ****** mp3 juke box.
Good being the key word. I actually saw a good cover band. Once. They played eighties pop rock and were dead on. Ton of people at the show to.

I make my living playing mp3's in clubs and I'm damn good at it. Of course I started on cassettes so I got some time invested in it. Mp3's were the best thing to ever happen to DJ's. If you know what you are doing no one, and I mean absolutely no one, will ever know you are using them.

Meeting the British lady for lunch Saturday. She is a highly paid professional HR manager for a large company. I'm a lifer club DJ. *** right? Been talking to her for several days now and she knows all about me and is still interrested. Again ***? We will see Saturday.

You might have yourself a personal patron. Maybe.

I'm not going to cheat here. My first guess was Nature Boy Buddy Rodgers but I don't think that's correct b/c of the nose. Damn! Googling now...

...check that, I'm right! (Though I mispelled his last name with the added "d.")
High fvcking five! Right on! Everyone bow to his majesty!!!

My favorite "wrestler" was Mr Perfect. I loved watching him and Bret Hart go for the IC title. Favorite brawler is Sandman (mentions to Cactus Jack and 4Horseman era Ric Flair). Favorite tag team, Road Warriors. Is there even another choice...?

But you run it through a real PA? Most bars here have sshhiittyy systems not meant for real music.

Ran my guitard's HD130 as a bass amp tonight. Pretty nice sounding. Gives me alittle gas for one of those new SB100's.

Yeah those would be in my short list for tube amps. The switchable output power is damn tasty. I don't understand the goddamn ******** form factor. The f'n new V4 is the same way. I just want a flipping 4x3 format tube amp like the Carvin V3m.
It's not the '60s any more we aren't all using 4x10s for Datassian sake.

There's two really good cover bands in town: A Black Sabbath one full of excellent musicians who play everything 100% faithful to the albums, but they only play songs off of the first three. I saw them in a tiny, packed neighborhood bar, playing on the floor and it was incredible.

The other one is a Celtic Frost cover band, they play classic CF, which is a lot of fun in a small bar also.

Best cover band I saw was a Depeche Mode tribute band. Only saw them once but it left a lasting impression. Worst I saw was a Metallica cover band. Just all-round dreadful and the band members were old enough to know better.

Didn't get a chance to play on that Fender Super Bassman and Berg 412 last night. The guy who it belonged to had a change of heart after the sale and asked to buy it back from the studio owner. Was really looking forward to tracking some songs with it but oh well.

My normal rig was looking and sounding pretty good last night. Maybe it was the acoustics in the room or maybe its because it was the size of a shaging bathroom. Either way, bass was heard AND felt all night. Solid.
