Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I never liked Ford cars until recently. Last few I've driven, drove fantastic. Big difference than 5 years ago.
Of course I've always bought Hondas, so apparently that's where my mouth puts my money.

Yeah, we always had Ford trucks at work and a few of them were lemons. That was 10+ years ago though, all their new stuff is pretty nice. One of my brothers in law works in the service department at a Ford dealer and helped hook us up with my wife's car lightly used for a good price. He's also one of those handy guys that buys cars, fixes them up and flips them. Always good to have someone like that in the family tree.

I've been driving my wife's 2013 Ford Focus for a week and I'm leaning heavily towards getting a Ford when I buy a new vehicle. It's a really nice car. I feel the same way about them as a company, I took note when they were the only US auto company that didn't demand a bailout.

Positive reinforcement. Works with animals, definitely works with children. Smart thinking :P

It's really easy to work in positive reinforcement by doing things while he's nursing. My wife nursed him while they did the vitamin K shot when he was born and when they did the heel prick test when he was 3 days old and he didn't even flinch. There's also plenty of opportunity, because he's nursing pretty much all the time.

Hey if I could get a pair shoved in my face everytime I cried I would be happy or crying all the time.

He gets it whenever he wants it, we try not to wait until he's crying to feed him. Once we knew what to look for (putting his hands in his mouth, smacking his lips, making "kissy" faces, etc.) it was pretty easy to tell when he's hungry. I really don't want to get him in the habit of crying every time he needs something, so we try to pay attention to his cues. Boy has a set of pipes on him once he decides to get going.

Got my brand spankin new Monobrow shirt...

Playing the girlfriends six string at work tonight, trying to learn some saint vitus covers, two of the residents at my group home I work at are old school hard rock guitarists that sadly don't have guitars anymore so was letting em mess around with crate combo and big muff, the older guy is from California and was in couple bands I've never heard of he has photos of his old rigs his son is about to bring him an acoustic tomorrow. Aside from them most of my residents are younger and like when me and coworkers some them music and the rest are to crazy to care lol.
Either way I can't complain I get paid to play guitar, clean the building, and make crazy people laugh for 16 hours a day.View attachment 457463

Nice git-fiddle.

I'm having a really hard time finding "new" bands to listen to. Only stuff I've really gotten into that I wasn't listening to before in the past half year has been American Sharks and Mars Red Sky. My best of 2014 list so far would have a few solid members but not very high in quantity.

Signed a lease last night, picking the car up today. 2014 Ford Fusion Titanium fully loaded. Looks a lot like this one. STOKED.

Looks good to me. Is that a hatch-back?

The current crop of Fords are definitely the best domestics...GM still wins big with the new C7 Vette and Camaro z/28. Gotta respect Ford for being the only ones not to take the bailout.

I'm still a Japanese fan boy. Germany always has awesome stuff that will be forever out of my price range, so **** 'em.
C7 yes. Camaro, no. Wait until the new '15 Mustang hits.

Hmm when I told my friend I was out with a girl I didn't expect him to show up and join us then follow us back to my house..
Hoping for a threesome? Friends shouldn't stop their friends from getting laid. Unless there is a very dire reason to.

Nice. My mom's Ford Fusion is a good car. Handles well, fits a lot of stuff for a sedan, and has a good sound system.

As for new bands... lately I've been listening to SubRosa a lot, Thou, Sea of Bones, and Cult of Luna. Sometimes I'll listen to Stoneburner, too. I can be pretty picky about new bands.

Forgot to mention, I finally checked out SubRosa. Tasty stuff. Once they're back here (I think they're doing some kind of tour dealy), I'll have to go see em!

Holy poopie, yea that dude totally blocked me and I will have words with him but don't want to talk to him either really for the moment... But my actually really good friend who introduced me to the girl did not realize that the girl turns into a gremlin if you let her drink and don't feed her.

When her and that friend came back to my house she said she thinks I'm OCD, then kept grabbing everything in my house and making a mess (sure enough internally I was freaking out over the turmoil). Then she started a pattern of telling me to put something specific on to watch, then would grab a random piece of produce from my fridge exclaim her jealousy of my healthy eating habits take elaborate messy steps to clean said produce then run outside and smoke and take a bite of my produce then chuck the rest in the yard. Then she'd come inside and say no no let's watch something else and then repeat the smoke/produce wrecking break. Part way through this I got bored and fed up with the duo so as the two guests were smoking and drinking I took out my pellet gun and started shooting my can targets in the yard, then she kept talking and being a gremlin so when she put her beer down I spun around and shot it so she'd be out of beer. She then was impressed and asked to try the gun which I reluctantly let her use if I showed her everything and pointed it. She says ok whips around and shot at the church across the street. So I took the gun from her and she asked to go look at the cemetery and the dude offered to show her and I ran inside and locked the door behind me and went to bed.

She paid for everything so it's whatever, but lol she asked today if I am going to hang with her again tonight she's paying but idk... Free shouldn't come with such a price.

So is my life consistently just very weird to you guys or do you just not share these moments?

I did meet a married couple we played pool with before she became a gremlin and the wife offered to let me shadow her as she's a self employed realtor and that really intrigues me.

It's weird when I met the girl she was just a quiet little lady who worked at the hospital.

Jesus Christ, that sounds shaging obnoxious. I have no patience for that kind of ********.

What goes on in your life doesn't sound too far off from what I was doing at that age, before I made better friends and really started playing a lot of music. I was also dating a shaging basket case at that time that thought it was cool to make friends with homeless people and bring them home, after which they'd eat all of my food, steal anything of value that wasn't nailed down and try to drink my booze (I drew the line at that one).

What I finally figured out, was that the poopy, obnoxious people I knew had more normal friends that were actually good people. I liked those people a lot more than the losers that I met first. One of them had a sit-down talk with me, basically saying what we're saying to you: You can do a lot better (friend-wise and girlfriend-wise). He was right, and I did.

Ditched the losers, made friends with good the people and played in their bands. Instant group of awesome friends, no more poopiness or annoying people.

So Askrere, you can do better.

You're a nice guy, and you don't want to have conflicts with people, which I totally relate to - but you can't let people walk all over you. I'll leave you with some advice that I got from my gym teacher on my first day of high school - advice that I should have taken to heart, but didn't. It was only after years of having this lesson pounded into me over and over I realized he was right.

The conversation went like this:

Him: "You seem like a nice guy, are you a nice guy?"

Me, somewhat proudly: "Yeah, I think I am"

Him: "Well let me tell you something son, nice guys get poopie on."

I didn't want to believe him at the time, but he was 100% right.

Don't let people poopie on you.

I do not like the Camaro, but the z/28 is murdering tracks. I don't like the mustangs, either. Will be interesting to see what an IRS does for it, though.

I'm a wagon fanatic. Dream wagon is a Merc C63 AMG 507, or an E63 AMG. Right now I'm only able to afford to live in the land of Japanese mass market rides...Subaru Legacy GT wagon, but that's a ride that can be beefed up considerably on the cheap
