Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I will say it again. Bryce, you need better friends. All this mooching and cock blocking needs to stop. In my circle of friends, you should expect physical retaliation if you cock block someone like that.

CL beat me to it: Seriously, find some better friends.

Put a bassist available ad out there, start doing some volunteer work in an area that interests you, get a retail job at a record store or somewhere cool until you find a more permanent job, put together a TB meet and greet, just do something and meet some new people.

Sometimes you just need to sit your friends down and remind them, "I will fuqing cut you."

Getting ready for my first day back to work, after taking a week off to help my wife with the new baby. It flew by like crazy, we were busy every day except the day after he was born. Makes me wish I could be a stay at home dad. I've been playing loud distorted bass jams all week and pumping Electric Wizard, Clutch and other stuff on the stereo at home and in the car with him. He's totally unfazed by loud noise, we've been going out of our way not to be quiet around him since he was born. Telling everyone not to whisper around him. Plus, our dogs always go apesh*t every time someone comes to the door.

Hopefully I will do some jamming this week. Either with a drummer or with Warp Rig. Also recorded all the instrumental tracks for an album the two weeks before the kid arrived (not mine, just a job), so getting back to recording vocals and mixing this week too hopefully.

So apparently, when I was struggling to keep the car in the air with a failing jack while simultaneously putting the wheel back on with the other hand, I didn't get it on evenly/straight/tight. So on the way to work this morning I started getting this really loud rumbling/knocking sound from that wheel. Pretty sure it's from not being on tight, hopefully it nothing got damaged badly. Walked a couple miles home, drove the other car to work. What a morning xD

I'm having a really hard time finding "new" bands to listen to. Only stuff I've really gotten into that I wasn't listening to before in the past half year has been American Sharks and Mars Red Sky. My best of 2014 list so far would have a few solid members but not very high in quantity.

Signed a lease last night, picking the car up today. 2014 Ford Fusion Titanium fully loaded. Looks a lot like this one. STOKED.

If I were to get a domestic, the only one I would consider is a Ford, simply because they didn't go asking for a handout from the gub'ment when everything went boobies up.

I grew up in a GM town (Janesville, WI). When the poopie hit the fan they told everyone at the factory that the government bailout would prevent them from having to close the factory. False.

They took the handout, shuttered the factory. It was the oldest operating GM plant in the country, employed 7000 people at its peak in the seventies, but was down to 1200 in 2009 when they closed it. The city is going downhill fast as a result.

Glad to hear the little guy is doing well, Corey! Good thinking on getting him used to loud noises, hopefully that leads to easier sleeping.

The little guy sleeps like a corpse, no problem there. I've been making a point to play all kinds of music in the car with him, since we were back and forth to the pediatrician (which is a 30 minute drive each way) about every day to check his weight gain. I also start jamming at home when he's nursing, so he associates heavy riffing with his favorite thing lol.

I've been driving my wife's 2013 Ford Focus for a week and I'm leaning heavily towards getting a Ford when I buy a new vehicle. It's a really nice car. I feel the same way about them as a company, I took note when they were the only US auto company that didn't demand a bailout.
