Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Sorry, miss paste on that one. Meant this:

Sunn 200S Amp & Cabinet

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

'60s Sunn 200S Bass amp with original 2x15" JBL D140 speakers, and 2nd cabinet with JBL D130. Amp recently overhauled by Kent at Backstage Tech. Serv. in Cotati. Cabinet tolex has some road rash. Kent's reaction: "I forgot how loud these Sunns were!"

Tonto, jump on it!

$0.99!!!

My great uncle used to chase my uncle around as a kid with this record and scare the poopie out if him.

Well Friday was rifftastic. Filled with beer, smoke and crazy old drunk dudes. Then went to the state fair drink more beer. Had a late Galactic Hatchet practice after that. I didnt want to wake the neighbors so I figured out a smaller setup, in case space is a real issue somewhere we play. Running the Vulcan through the 218+210, and PA200 through my single 118. I'm using two channels of the PA, one daisy chained from the Vulcan and another from my aby box with the Lucifuzz in front of it. Sounds good, just less loud and doesn't literally shift the air in the room. I'd probably use it for recording actually.

Oh also I finished my repurposed wood oversized 115...

I didn't have anything to cut a circle well enough so I improvised and did tried the straight slots, it actually blocks some of the harsh highs on my valve Jr. I think it looks pretty cool too.

Time to make a matching repurposed headbox for the valve jr.

I want to upgrade and get an old peavey combo like a tweed classic 50 410. I think this thumpy 115 cab would pair great with the open 410. It would also look sick as hell.

Idk what the extension cab ohm requirements are with the 410, but the classic 30 combo was 16 ohms only.

There was a guy selling his rig here recently it was two tweed classic 50 410 combos each with matching 410 extension. I bet that was fun as hell.

Took a day trip to our country forest property today for the first time in almost two months. Holy poopie the wilderness takes over fast. Did see the bones of a recently killed deer, along with some fur and hooves. Must have been killed and eaten in the last week or so. It looked to be about the size of a fawn. I'm hoping a coyote or wolf got it, and not some trespassing dick with a rifle.

Checked on the garden i put in out there, dug about 20lbs of potatoes, picked some blackberries and got a shitload of mosquito bites. All in all a good day.

Doesn't feel like summer until I'm hot, sweaty, itchy and scratched by thorns.

Trespassed to the lake and my friends dog chased a raccoon family into a culvert and fell 10 feet down a 45 degree incline into a well (I know opposite of lassie this guy). Anyways we couldn't get him and only had the light of my cellphone so we left him ran to the car and starting speeding like crazy so the park ranger would stop us and then we could take him with us, but after we showed him to prove we weren't crazy he made us drive to a maintainance station for a 10 foot rope... So we go back realize that was ******** and he called the firemen who showed up and tied my friend to their effective rope and a flash light and had him run shimmy into the filth to brave the coons and his freaked out dog. He pulled his giant dog out by his neck scruff and we dragged him out by his midsection. The dog is bloodied, stanky and freaked out but alive!

Bloodied from the 'coons? Rabies check?

Can't be too calm too long.

Bloodied from the 'coons? Rabies check?

He better... I told him don't get licked. He shaged up one of the baby raccoons we think the took a little tumble with mama coon down the concrete cliff. She climbed back up and he was in water deeper that him so he was treading for his life with his back feet and clawing at the lip of the incline with his front feet until he shredded down his nails while the nana raccoon battered his face in the dark for about an hour while we kept trying to figure out how to get my friend under the grate down the sewer past all the coons and down a 10 ft chute.

Ah dude, I bet he'll love it.

Got a show coming up with an interesting looking band. I'll just leave the flyer with their attached promo shot. Actually, I like their sound a bit better than the other band, which has a certain radio hard rock sound. The guys on the flyer sound like some goth death metal thing. Which I actually like in a mixed genre bill.

We just don't look much different than the people there to see us. Kinda got me thinking, but most of the bands I like, just look like normal dudes. Exceptions being Ghost (those robes and poopie are still cool) and Amon Amarth (I don't know any LARPers).

Concept album on hold for now. Working on an epic riff about a lone rider going through the arid wasteland of the Colorado high desert. Lots of lyrics to work on.

Coffee is good today.

Yeah, I prefer when people in bands just dress normally - but I won't judge bands that do have an image going on until I hear the music.

It depends on which band I am playing with. If it is the cover band, then it matters where/who we are playing for. Someones party? Depends on how classy it is. Ill wear a tie if you are paying me to. If it is just a bar gig, we generally abide by "Some other band's t-shirt."
