Idk, in the cover band I used to play in, I think we had a 2000w PA with two 215 mains? Handled stuff pretty well. For practice with my original band, we used to use my Bassman 300pro into a 1x15. Also plenty loud.


In other news, in a week I'll be flying back to CT to finish up school, and a week tomorrow I'm going to SLEEP. All sorts of stoked. If any one wants some Sleep swag, patches or what not, let me know and we can probably work something out (I remember someone saying they wanted something). It's up in Boston, and while perusing the interwebs this morning I found out there just so happens to be a Sunn 1000s up in Boston for sale that looks pretty minty I might go check out while I'm in the neighbourhood.

Also, has anyone checked out the Catalinbread echorec? I've been eyeing one for a while, but actually finding bass demos and reviews is a bit difficult. Same goes for the Earthquaker Rainbow Machine, though that might not be so up yous guyses alley, but I'd like it to do some spacey Pink Floydy stuff.

I'm also working at a Milkshake stall at our county fair this week and getting paid in milkshakes, which I can then go barter with the other food stalls for actual food. Thus, my diet is largely consisting of milkshakes and tacos. My mind is all "OHHELLLLLLLLYEAH" and my body is all "killmenowpleasegodwhy"

I am tempted by the Catlinbread Montavillian Delay and the EQD Dispatch Master.

Finally finished that damn alternator tonight after a Super Migraine that nailed me all day finally eased up some, sheesh. These strings landed today. Been curious how balanced tension strings feel.

I actually enjoy playing with them. Everyone except me is fuqing amazing. Singer is a 17 year old chick with huge pipes, and she can play decent guitar. New lead guitar player is a metal shredder that can tone it back when he needs to, but can unleash. Drummer is the singers dad. He has a degree in music theory and can play every thing from marimba to clarinet.

And then I hack around on bass.

Sounds like a talented group. Even if it's not one's favorite music, it's fun playing with competent musicians who also have their heads on straight.

Just scored a malekko 616 dark off reverb for a great price. Stoked, been wanting one since I got to test one out at Chicago music exchange awhile back. Nice dark analog modulated delay. Never can have enough delay.

So jammed with the ADA and the Freeze tonight. Hell yeah, this is the syrupy nasty flange sound I've been hearing in my head. Time to way over use flange for a while in both VEGA and GH. Freeze is definitely cool and will help a lot in the slow droning parts I want in Galactica Hatchet.

Also going to build a new pedal board, basically just connect these to wood drawer front I've been using as smaller pedal boards sometimes with 1x1 or something.

This also now the biggest pedal board I've ever used.

Now it's time for drunk forza.

It's weird to me how elsewhere on talkbass people act as if suddenly if you are tuning lower than E, you need all this special poopie just to get a decent sound.

Someone on another thread asked, out of concern, if the bass the OP was converting to BEAD had a pickup "with the frequency response" to reproduce low B.

It was a regular P-bass.

Correct, I had the echorec for a little while. It's a super nice sounding delay. In fact it's the first/only digital delay to really impress me since I got obsessed with delay. Sounded shockingly close to my roland space echo, but cleaner and obviously smaller. I didn't mess with all the crazy multiple rhythm things it could do when I had it, but I it did have me considering keeping it and selling the space echo briefly. I made the right decision since my space echo is still here and I still love it's noisy weird old delay.

I had a rainbow machine too, cool for making sounds like youd hear on a battles record, but I never could think of a use for it in a project id be in. Fun, pedal to mess with though.

Cool, great to hear. I really want to pair up that echorec with the parachute wah to get some Geezer ala The Dark or The Writ weird effects. Plus I've never played around too much with delay, but I've been meaning to track one down for a while, and the echorec's cool modulation really does it for me. And can you imagine Rainbow Machine plus Echorec? Gonna get weeeeeird...

Love that album. People Let's Stop the War is fantastic, especially when he kicks in that fuzz bass. The original 3 piece Grand Funk is just great. I highly recommend tracking down the 2002 album Live: The 1971 Tour, it's a great live album. So is the original Grand Funk Live Album.
