No not yet were working on it though. The big rig was clipping everything we were trying really bad. Next time when he has his laptop I'll run the half setup and hopefully that won't clip the mic as much.

I really wanna hear the songs, when you get something together. Just turn the input gain down or use a pad...or a mic with lower output. I try to never make people turn their amps down when recording, it never sounds the same.

We've tried some zoom handheld model thing but that was the worst even with the lowest input level, even the Mac books Internal mic with the input turned down to 1% was better but it still clied. Gonna try a USB mic with his Mac book and the input level way down. Not looking for studio quality obviously. Just a decent raw basement recording.

A USB mic should be miles ahead of using the mac's microphone jack/built in microphone, since it's acting as a rudimentary USB interface. Should hopefully lower noise and latency for yeh, as I understand it.
If that still fails, I'd recommend getting a cheap USB interface. Focusrite makes some nice affordable/small interfaces that will sound amazing compared to build in mics and portable recorders.

There will be extra hands dropping in for sure. Least my lift leveler showed up yesterday so nothing to stop me except fear and common sense.
But first I have to make it to rehearsal Saturday. Screwed up the timing when to meeting last weekend and was forced into hosting a global conference call on a work issue last Wednesday.
A little hard to tell people who have been up all night BTW I have to get off the phone and go to band practice. :/ The guys get it so no worries.

Weighted best walking across town in the heat of the day. The night bike ride across and back the other way.

Totally balanced it out with mcdonalds jalapeño doubles. A wee bit too much of the pickled jalapeño I think, they overpower the burger with too much pickly-ness. Fries Dipped in ranch with unsweet ice tea (the only good kind of iced tea IMO).

I also prefer my tea not sweet.

Right now I'm drinking ginger tea. It's not iced, though.

I've had this same problem before. Band mates who are convinced something "will sell because we paid to have it produced."
I think you really have to have a fanbase that will come to gigs in order to not waste money on a professional printing.. If you opened up for the band they came to see, chances are they're buying the headliner's music/shirt/sticker.
The best way to build a fan base is free music.
You know how Metallica got huge, folks trading bootleg tapes.
Some bands get away with selling their first release, but using it as promotion to get gigs and network is money in the back.
I say sell shirts and stickers, give away the music. At least until you've got some kind of following of people besides the family of band members.

The digital version of our album is free. The cassette version costs $5, and the vinyl version costs... more than that.

Then we've got the $1 rolling papers. That was actually the first merch we had.

Hey, how much fret noise/buzz do you guys tolerate? I'm getting some on the new bass, having set up the action as low as I could.

A lot. My bass is overdriven enough that it doesn't really matter, even when it's slightly audible. I actually kinda like it.

When I pl;ay with a light touch like I should, there's little, but I'm pretty heavy-handed with plucking so I'm getting some clank.

Should? You should play however gets you the sound you're after.

I'm exactly the same - heavy handed when I pluck. Bad technique, sure, but I dig it.

Psh, bad technique. Whatever. Technique is only bad if it is an obstacle between you and accomplishing what you want to on your instrument, or if it's hurting you. I purposefully playing really hard at times, because it sounds different that way, in a way I like.

My wife and have been on a big "Futurama" kick lately. I forgot how good it was. She's a total Zoidberg nut. Consequently, I will frequently put my hands in the air, simulating the claws, and do the "Woopwoopwoop" around the house.
Just thought I'd share that little factoid.

Futurama is amazing. One of the best shows. It's not pretentious, but at times I feel its writers are shaging brilliant.

It's not quite that bad, but it's up there.

Also, Futurama is incredibly good. The episode where bender is shot into space is some of the best sci-fi ever written. Period.

You guys are turds about your manual transmissions. Let's be serious for a second, it's 2014 and technology has generally made automatic transmissions superior to manual. Most cars now have manual mode shifting with their auto trannies so you can still down shift the engine in bad weather. Sure the manual gives you more of a "feel" for the transmission but that doesn't mean its better. Fuel economy is about the same now, with the CVT autos getting better fuel economy than both regular manual and auto. Autos are easier to drive and let you focus more on other things. If you prefer manuals that's cool, but let's not pretend that they're somehow way better than automatics.

Yeah that is odd of a guitar amp.
All that talk the other day about the D-180 inspired me to look it up. That thing is really cool with the current limiting master volume. The effects loop is parallel blendable. Since then every other amp comes up kinda lame.

I actually don't use the effects loop at all.

But yeah, due to using that amp, I still don't have a pedal I use for just my regular overdrive when I'm playing through the D-180.

I am really pretty much just talking crap when I say autos are less than manuals. As CL400 said, there are awesome autos out there. Hell, even the domestic autos aren't bad at all. I prefer to drive a manual, because it's what I enjoy. I'd be perfectly content to drive a Fusion like Laz's with an auto, simply because it's a nice peppy sedan that's designed to be just that.
Now, if I was strapped in to a WRX, I'd definitely want the manual.

My mom has a Ford Fusion. Really easy car to drive, handles amazingly.

I peaked at bass years ago when I was playing black metal and taking lessons for upright. I've gotten crappy since then. I am definitely the least competent musician in my bands.

I think that looks pretty classy. Although that's with abalone dots, which I wouldn't do, but they didn't have any pictures of a maple board with black dots.

I might like their last album. Sabbath worship bands usually don't interest me that much unless they're named Sleep.

That usually happens to me. I often assume everyone has put me on ignore.

That's pretty much humanism- the belief that humans are capable of discerning between right and wrong without any higher power. I consider myself a humanist. We're capable of solving our own problems.

I'm not really a humanist, but like many ancient cultures, don't really believe that morality and spirituality are really that linked. We've come to see them as so, but outside of the big Abrahamic religions, in old polytheist faiths, there wasn't the same idea that you had to do the right thing morally because a higher power wanted you to, as the higher powers were seen as very imperfect themselves.

So i was supposed to borrow my old man's truck this weekend, starting last night but he's busy with work, super stressed and not responding to phone calls and texts. Ma is out of town caring for my sister and her new baby. Can't do anything related to the move without the truck. So now I'm two days behind. If i lose this weekend it's really going take a lot to get everything done in time. We wanted to move in to the new place tonight and get a new couch tomorrow - that ain't happening. poopie's stressing me out. I hate not being able to get poopie done. I can't stand sitting around when i should be working. shag.

My dad had an '84 Regal T-Type which was essentially a Grand National. That thing was insanely fast, and it was like the power curve got better the faster you went. I can't imagine what the GNX's are like.

He sold it and bought a '35 Chevy pickup with a mildly rodded 350. It was fast too, but i liked the sleeper-y nature of Buick. The truck eventually got moved for a boat, that he still has but never uses

I died a little when they started making 4-door FWD Regals.
