Check out vibrations of doom magazine and doom radio. They play a bunch of classic stuff with new stuff thrown in. I've found a few cool bands that way.

How old? And no way. I enjoy all that stuff, I think they can fit well together if done right.
I'll try, but streaming is a no-no here at work. I can still get away with youtube. If not I'll look them up at home.

Ran off to a house that was listed as having some free tools. Got 5 Home Depot buckets full of hand tools and hardware and stuff, an old metal folding chair and two more shelving units. One looks like it might hold my records and player.

So no go the peavey 215 yesterday, guy calls me 10 mins before I was gonna a hour to his house and tells me had another offer and that I'd have to beat 200 to which I said ********, shag you, have a nice day. But as luck would have it my vocalist called me right after to see what I was doing, I explained to him the situation and then he told that his dad has a peavey 215 deep version sitting in his garage in the Sid cover he's do for 125! Apparently he told me about this before so I'm gonna go ahead and assume I was drunk, either way I'm glad I met that guy and he does not cease to impress us.

I always thought prog-sludge would be cool. Not like Mastodon though. More like Mystick Krewe which is probably more southern rock than prog. But it rocks and it has some tasty Bower Power EHG-ish riffs, fantastic organ, cool bass lines, solid drumming.

Is it still streaming if it plays through media player? My old company blocked streams, and doom radio was the only one that wasn't blocked.

Great grandma had one of those foot pedals in her Beatle.
Maybe I should carry my extendable baton in the future... I check pretty often it moves fast and is mostly garbage, but occasionally it's something I could use like hand saws and files and stuff.
If you like to listen to that stuff, sure. The last band I was in was pretty traditional 80s-sounding doom, but I always had an overdriven bass tone (sometimes fuzz). Didn't think about it much until one guy was talking to me after the show and said that our sound was really cool - like an old doom band with a bass player from a band on Amphetamine Reptile. He was dead on.
I work a little noise rock influence into my writing. It's just in there, I like a lot of bands in that style and it had a lot of influence on what bass tone I like.
Also I don't mind abalone if it's prepared well, but I hate it as inlay material on instruments. Looks so tacky to me.
