Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Off Topic
I used to hang out there back in the day before I found S/D

I went down there the other night to see what was going on. It's all boring down there now. It used to be a pretty hilarious place. I guess it's getting cleaned up, and a bunch of the funnier guys (that I remember) are getting banned for talking trash and trolling. It's an "internet war" of sorts I guess.

Good day all!!!

Echo shifter is a keeper, Ron you'll be getting a PM soon.

So running stereo...WHY HAVENT I TRIED THIS ALREADY?!!??! You were right @Niff, total tone epiphany happened last night. I did buy an unsheidled cord so its a bit noisey, but it was cheap and just to try it out. Now I'll go buy a nice shielded one. The Vulcan straight in off the brifge pup sounded awesome without those massive lows coming from the neck pup, the bridge just growls so meanly and the fuzz roars. And the bass cannon neck pup with all the effects can unearth the ground sonically. Awesome separation of tones makes me cut through while still making that sub foundation in the mix. Definitely going to stick with stereo for VEGA.

I stuck around after practice to try out the Washburn P bass with the new setup...boooooooo no more stereo, Its gonna take a bit more dialing in to get the Galactic Hatchet sound perfect, honestly I think most of the dialing in is which cabs should I run from each head, all 4 of my cabs vary so much in tone. I'd rather not have to but I may have to switch up cabs between VEGA rig and GH rig, and if switching cabs and adding an aby switch to my signal chain is all I have to change between setups I guess that's not so bad.

PICTURE TIME!!!

It may look the same but its running completely different. Vulcan through the single 18 and the folded 18. Booster through the 218+210 and EVM 215. Next time I think I'll try the Vulcan out of the EVM 215 and all the 18s out for the Booster, I think that might work better for the GH setup, hopefully VEGA to.

All this stereo talk makes me realize a project I abandoned 2 years ago. Jazz bass with jazz at bridge, model one and ric neck pup in there too. Got as far as "routing" it out with a chisel and hammer, while hammered with my guitarist. Not a good idea. If we waited another hour to do it we could have borrowed a router from his neighbor.
You turds are making want a Ric more than I already do.

USPS finally updated the tracking. It's in Dallas as of 10:30am. Was supposed to be here yesterday. So maybe I'll have it on Tuesday. Hopefully it's in one piece.

Seriously, stereo is the boobies. I'm not a jazz bass man for the sound, I'm a jazz bass man for the looks (I love a jazz with covers on and blocks), but with my dagstar and stereo wiring it's phenomenal. I still like normal basses, but between the versatility, sound, and the "what the flying **** is going on with your jazz bass" factor, I love this bass.

Stereo YES!!! I'm already thinking of making the Washburn P a stereo bass when I make the flying v body for it. A straight single coil right up against the neck and the split p in the same place or maybe a bit farther back toward the bridge.

Why does looking at this rig never get old?
