Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Does this make any sense? I have to tell my boss 2 weeks ahead of time if I can't work on a friday...even though it's overtime and not a normal work day. Also we don't really find out if we have to work that Friday until the monday and sometimes even Wednesday. Also in Wisconsin there is no mandatory overtime. Well guess who is supposed to work this Friday 5am-330pm the dayear after Sleep.

Maybe I can get off or at least come in late...on what is supposed to be an off day.

Sounds like you might have the 24 stomach bug that day...sorry boss man

I hate having vending machines that accept credit cards in the break room.. I need to start leaving my card at home or something. Not the only issue obviously, but if I can cut back there it should help a fair bit. Gonna look into donating plasma and whatnot.

I'd like to know how you get by on $60 a month for food though :dead:

What do you eat?

Rice, beans (bought in bulk), veggies and eggs from the farmers market. Potatoes, and flour I get from costco via my sister. Chicken in bulk from a polish butcher shop where I get a crazy discount*. Oat meal for breakfast.

Not a lot of variation, and I cook everything myself.

I cooked my way through college, and ended up doing all the buying the last summer I was there. Learned a lot on how to save, and it doesnt hurt to know how to cook a lot with a little.

*Told the old lady who runs the place that her pierogie reminded me of my grandma, and she started crying and tries to kiss me on the cheek now every time I come in.

Brilliant. Please write a cookbook/meal schedule, I must follow in your delicious/healthy/cheap ways!

So what is this dish/dishes you create. I usually eat rice and chick peas for lunch or bag salad for lunch at work, pretty cheap.

My #1 tip would be start eating a bowl of oatmeal every morning, and drink about a gallon of water through the day. It will cut down on a LOT of junk eating/cravings. When I started doing that, it cut my food bill every month in half, because I didnt want snacks. Now I have a water bottle on me all the time. It also reduces your portion size and you dont over eat, which also saves money.

Last night I made rice with garlic and turmeric, roasted some mushrooms I got on sale for $1 and three chicken thighs with carrots and a pepper. That will cover me for lunch most of this week.

I'll see what I can do to up my water consumption, I was doing better with it for a while but then forgot about it. Oatmeal in the morning would likely help me cut back also, seeing as currently I never eat breakfast and just wind up hungry at work. Thanks for the tips CL400, I definitely need to explore the cooking world more!

We used to go down to the farmers market with $2-300, and buy enough fresh produce to make $10k worth of food at the restaurant. Granted that place starts at $50 a plate or so, but you can make crazy good food if you put the work in.

Your food tastes my grandma. Interesting way to get a discount.

Ha.

In the city I live in, the Polish population is in a big decline, and because they are primarily Catholic or Lutheran, get second class status by the huge CRC population here. The Calvinists and Paulians just see a Polish last name and turn up their nose.

Fine by me, I'll take free kielbasa and discounted chicken.
