Lentils, beans, and...uh....beans.
Farmers market is over priced here.
Also if your not used to cooking constantly it's not a good idea to buy a lot of produce at once as it's going to spoil.
Don't worry, I'll start small and I'm sure my wife can assist if I get in over my head too much.Farmers market is over priced here.

CL400, I've definitely lived the lentil life. Sloppy joes are baller, and they freeze/reheat really well.
Honestly, even if you want some more variety, here's what I do.
Bangin Ritos:
-Can of Goya Blackbeans
-1x Sweet tater (chop that sum'bitch up and put her in the oven)
-Broccoli
-Onions
-Spicy pepper of your choice
-Brown or white rice
Roast the tater in the oven, brown your onions, broc, and peppers on the stove top. Cook that rice up real nice. Aquire tortilla shells. Make rito's, then wrap up what's left with even more tortilla shells. Freeze said leftover ritos, and when you're on your way to work in the morning, toss one in your bag. will thaw by lunch time and microwave most excellently. Will keep you well fed, and the taters, beans, and onions can be used in other dishes if you're way in excess.
Do you mean just a soft flour or corn tortilla? Or are you referring to the crunchy taco "shell". I assume that's a big soft flour tortilla for the burrito?

I want the kebabs with a side of meatloaf!!!I dont need to manage my budget so tight, but unless I am cooking for other people I eat really simply.
Once someone else is joining me, all bets are off. (food pron)

I cook oatmeal from scratch for breakfast every other day for my wife and I. Never plain, just simple variations. Spiced pumpkin, apple cinnamon, blueberry, savory (with a fried egg on top). The rest of the weekdays I make eggs and toast different ways and on the weekends I make pancakes. Banana pancakes, blueberry pancakes, this past weekend I made bacon pancakes. We've been stretching our dollar by pretty much buying staples (rice, bread, lentils, beans, butter, spices), eggs, fresh fruits and veggies. We fill up on frozen chicken breasts at Costco, grill em up, chop em up and keep them around to make tacos or add to dishes. I wish there was a butcher locally, but there just isn't.
We've been going out of our way to try to cut down on costs and eat less processed food. I still feel like I could do better, but I know we eat 100% better than we did 5 years ago and a lot better than most of the people I know for way less money. I need to make more big batch dishes to stretch out over the week. My wife makes a great turkey chili every once in a while to portion out for lunches.
What goes into savory oatmeal?
Oatmeal in the morning would likely help me cut back also, seeing as currently I never eat breakfast and just wind up hungry at work.
FWIW, I will make a huge batch of steel cut oats on the weekend, and then all I have to do is carve off a slice, nuke it, add some syrup or jam or whatever, and its on. 2 minute breakfasts when you have 2 preschooler sot get out the door RULE.
