Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Congrats on the school shows, Max and Joe!

Another long day of moving and cleaning. poopie's getting real old but the hard work is done.

Met another new neighbor today, old hippie guy. He lives two houses down and his front yard is pretty much a prairie, lit lots of tall grass and wildflowers. I was wondering whose house that was. He seems nice but a little spacey, just like the other two neighbors that I've met. I think we found a cool neighborhood.

Think I finally fixed my vintage EHX hot tubes. Thing has gave me fits since I bought it. Thats what I get for taking the word of it being "fixed" by the guy I got it from. Got bored tonight and opened it up. Hit a bunch of light looking solder and some grey ones. Seems like I got it but won't know till morning. I just played it thru my USB interface. It was acting up before I started and seems all good now. Full test in the am!

Got my first show in over two years with Nagato tonight! Wish me luck.
shag yeah!

Sorry, I just assumed everyone saw them on Wednesday in Oakland.
I didn't know about that one, either. :(

What's going on? What's an OT?
A terrible place.

Good day all!!!

Echo shifter is a keeper, Ron you'll be getting a PM soon.

So running stereo...WHY HAVENT I TRIED THIS ALREADY?!!??! You were right @Niff, total tone epiphany happened last night. I did buy an unsheidled cord so its a bit noisey, but it was cheap and just to try it out. Now I'll go buy a nice shielded one. The Vulcan straight in off the brifge pup sounded awesome without those massive lows coming from the neck pup, the bridge just growls so meanly and the fuzz roars. And the bass cannon neck pup with all the effects can unearth the ground sonically. Awesome separation of tones makes me cut through while still making that sub foundation in the mix. Definitely going to stick with stereo for VEGA.

I stuck around after practice to try out the Washburn P bass with the new setup...boooooooo no more stereo, Its gonna take a bit more dialing in to get the Galactic Hatchet sound perfect, honestly I think most of the dialing in is which cabs should I run from each head, all 4 of my cabs vary so much in tone. I'd rather not have to but I may have to switch up cabs between VEGA rig and GH rig, and if switching cabs and adding an aby switch to my signal chain is all I have to change between setups I guess that's not so bad.

PICTURE TIME!!!

It may look the same but its running completely different. Vulcan through the single 18 and the folded 18. Booster through the 218+210 and EVM 215. Next time I think I'll try the Vulcan out of the EVM 215 and all the 18s out for the Booster, I think that might work better for the GH setup, hopefully VEGA to.

What is that Mustache Tone box, Max? That be where them straight in magic mojo happens.

Also my guitard and dummer already told me I'm going overboard...AM IM DOING IT RIGHT?
I'm surprised you hadn't run somewhat stereo already, to be honest, with a rig like that.

So, after playing with the meatsmoke some more it has made me feel like all of my fuzz just isn't cutting it for me anymore, that natural tube grind the overdrive channel has just outshines what I'm getting from my other pedals, so I thought I'd give you guys the heads up before I post an add in the classifieds that I'm going to sell my Demon King, Sansamp BDDI, Boss FZ2 Hyper Fuzz, and the Microtubes b7k. Doom Room discount if anyone's interested send me a PM.
That's kinda how I usually feel about my D-180.

What controls/sounds do those various pedals have?

Show was a raging success! Gotta feel good when even the sound guy, who I didn't know, comes up and says that he's glad we're back as a band! Also told me were one of the easiest bands he's ever mixed because we just have our tone so right that everything fits perfect and he just has to adjust volumes for out front... feelin good!
I've been complimented by the soundguys at a few shows. It is weird. Since we're doom metal, I always assume the soundguy is going to hate us.

Bud light is disgusting, but I may be a little biased coming from Millerwaukee...its still terrible though.
I don't care for Budweiser or Miller. Or Coors, either.

Cheap light beer tastes fine to me, it's not bad, it's just not much of any taste to me. Which on a really hot day I prefer a semi tasteless beer.

Yesterday at the lake these people showed up to our little cove and brought bud light so me and my friend lucked out as we didn't bring any beer.
They didn't bring any beer, either.

Kubrick is pretty awesome, but his stuff i love it or hate it.
Really really love A clockwork Orange. 2001 makes me want to shoot myself.
I'm the opposite. I'm quite fond of 2001, but don't like Clockwork Orange.

Smoke bud lightyear, don't drink light beer.
Yeah, this.

I wonder what that winne smells like.
Winne? Oh, Winnebago? Never seen it abbreviated before.

I think by now it's just a huge nug that smells slightly of Winnebago, rather than a Winnebago that smells of weed.

So, last night I ended up going up to Concord to get one of our records from my lead vocalist, to give to my cousin for his birthday.

My lead vocalist instead gave me two boxes of the records, and told me to sell them to record stores and poopie.

I don't know how to sell our records to record stores.

What do I do, just go in and say "Hey, I'm in a band. I swear we don't suck. Here's some of our records. You should buy them and stock them."? Is that the procedure?

EGC bass sighting?

Lol. @ 4:26 "I think I see some moshing going on in there, to the right!"

I would mosh my balls off at a Weezer show.

Pretty much. Technically you're putting them there on consignment. They'll usually take like 3 to 5 and when they've all sold they send you the money. If they sold quickly, they might even ask for more.
