Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

There is a lot of talk about the Peavey MiniMega, but I think people should keep their eyes on this amp too.

Invalid Link Removed

Has the same power section as the mini mega (1000 watts, 1500 burst). gEq instead of parametric, no Cosmos, and it still has a compressor. For $450, that is a LOT of amp.

The cosmos seemed interesting?

Also I dig parametric, graphic is fragile and the stuff mbelue said as well.

The Dano Cool Cat is nice but I liked the Boss TR-2 even better. I think I got one for $45.

I forgot in my post about cheap trem (sounds like I'm looking for a hooker) I didn't want volume loss if acheivable.

I'll check that band out on the way to the dentist.

Yeah, they kind of glossed over that one when they were showing us product at NAMM. Looks to be a great amp - and I prefer the rackmount chassis to the micro box.
How many ohms? I can't find anything on it. That said, peavey has the 600 watt model for $350 right now. That's a damn good price if these amps sound decent and have peavey reliability.

Hmm, yeah I stand corrected in the case of the headliner 600 - RMS rating is printed on the back.

They are being more honest about their ratings these days, and they've had engineers like Bobby working to perfect Class D amplifiers - starting with the latest series IPR power amps. So it wouldn't surprise me if the power section going into the MiniMega and the new Headliner will put an honest 1000W. I would wager that the delay in release of both of those heads has something to do with them tweaking the power amp section for better performance/stability.

Yeah for some reason I trust Bobby. I think the new amps will be legit.
The headliner could be an awesome amp if they'd fix the power rating and the DI. For now it's absolute trash.
Edit: oops I'm thinking of a different amp's DI. Nevermind that part.

Nice G3, forgot I wanted one of those. haha.

Good question on the cheap tremolo. I would be interested in that too.

So they are remaking the Bass Whammy? When the hell did this happen? Now I can afford to try it at some point. I'm sure there are Tool fans sh*tting their pants on that one. Also probably angry for spending 600 on a used one.

The new BW is great. I highly recommend it; hasn't left my board since it arrived. It has a decent chorus, too.
