Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I've heard the Faital 15PR400s have a JBL-ish sound. Don't know if that's true. They also might not save you any money over going with K-140s.

EV 15B/SRO drivers fit in a 2000S, but they might not fit in a 200S due to the clearance of the port/horn panels.

i might be able to get away with front mounting them, being a clone cab and all - that would save me a bit of space. our speaker selection is pretty f'ing terrible locally here, i might have to use Eminence PA speakers

Is it weird I can't stop listening to my own band? Damn this record is going to be sex.

We might look at releasing a split at some point, too. And thanks to Janitor, we are one step closer to getting out of state. You north easterners have it made. In this state, there are three cities that have some sort of a scene. Next closest place is ABQ, New Mexico. We might try to go down in spring...

Damn. All buzzed up and feeling like talking...
Working on the buzzed part, finally. Been a long sucky day a work.
Time for German beer and goat cheese pizza.

Doing my best to ignore the football game...

I can't get local TV without installing an antenna on the roof. Netflix or nothing...

Having this

It's so damn good. And, 7.8%, for those watching your numbers :)

I wish we could all hang in real life. Although, Laz and Toast would make it look like dads with kids. Tall ass giants.

If they are the "barbarians", I am the dwarf with the double bladed battle axe (I'm only 5'10")

I love Belgian beer. Really have never tried one I didn't like.
My eisbock is a 12%.

I played it for 3 hours already. Got it at 6pm. So I guess I like it.
The figuring in the rosewood fretboard is most triumphant.
Pretty stoked!!

Got my little half a$$ed laptop recording corner set up. Mainly going to be doing online lessons/practicing/learning songs and working on being a better player. Then recording and drums here and there.
Anybody have any tips on some cool vsts they use with reaper? Like synth stuff?
Oh yeah, have a bass whammy on the way...

Right on! Hope it works out, lots of metal fans in ABQ, should be a good turnout.

I haven't had a chance to scope your tracks yet, bandcamp doesn't work on my work computer where I do 95% of my Internet-ing but it's on my radar/list of things to scope.

As far as listening to your own band, I think it's weird if someone doesn't listen to their own band. I know I play in bands, and write music that I enjoy and want to hear. So my various projects end up in regular rotation. The way I see it, if you don't want to hear/enjoy your own band, why would anyone else?

Love the new album Ron. I really dig the ambient stuff on Miserable too. Hope to hear that unreleased ambient track.

One of my friends listened to Miserable on shrooms. He said he felt like his head was going to explode.

Haha thanks man! Glad you're digging it, and hopefully your friend's head didn't actually explode.

I was playing in a 80's pop band when I got my first one :). Machete came later, lol

i got mine on a blind recommendation many years ago. a musician i respect said "the way you play, you need a rick". i went and tried a 4003, loved it, ebay'd a 4001 for half the price of a new 4003 in new zealand. bam. then i actually started listening to stoner/doom and realised how perfect the match really was, haha.

So, I'm not weird. And you are right! I'm selfish in writing what I want to hear. I guess it makes sense I keep wanting to listen. When I wrote blood eagle, it was an a mush mash of different elements I enjoy in heavy music. Droney feedback, heavy riffs, tortured vocals, twangy guitar, jam out, solo, argh! We aren't jamming for two weeks...

So if anyone thought the light up grills are cool, apparently you can buy a kit for $31 from amazon, that does different light patterns/colors. Applies with double sided tape. Would have to have a framed out grill, like an Orange.
