I own a Rickenbacker but don't use it much for doom, as it's in EADG.

The outro of the first record is with it, though. I might use it for some stuff on the next one.

Really I want another one to tune BEAD.

So, I'm not weird. And you are right! I'm selfish in writing what I want to hear. I guess it makes sense I keep wanting to listen. When I wrote blood eagle, it was an a mush mash of different elements I enjoy in heavy music. Droney feedback, heavy riffs, tortured vocals, twangy guitar, jam out, solo, argh! We aren't jamming for two weeks...

So if anyone thought the light up grills are cool, apparently you can buy a kit for $31 from amazon, that does different light patterns/colors. Applies with double sided tape. Would have to have a framed out grill, like an Orange.

i really shouldn't even think about doing this.. but.. i think i want it. do you have a link?

So apparently that 12%ABV Eisbock I got at the pizza pub went to my head.
I got a sixpack to go.
Didn't realize they were 11.99 each.
I played it off like Richie Rich. In my defense the waitress who sold it to me has great assets. In spite of which I looked her dead in the eyes long enough to make the order. I'm rather proud of that(even if the Mrs. called me on it).
Hot damn I just blew my beer fund for the month.
Oh well they're good and almost heady enough to be 2 for 1.

I've had 2 Ric's over the years. Both 4001's from the late 70's.

I wanted one from when I first started playing at age 13, and saw a pic of Cliff Burton in my Metallica songs tab book playing the burgundy one he played for awhile. I finally got one around 21, and kept it till I was 27. As much as I love how a Ric looks, tonally me and those basses just do not mesh. I picked up a second one shortly after selling my 1st to flip, and while again, looked and played amazing the sound just didn't mesh with how I play.

Also had a dually, super cool cab, just didn't sound like a 8x10 which apparently was all I ever wanted in the first place.

Only touched a ric once and it was unplugged, I suck.

My wife's old boss was a(stupidly rich) old hippie who collected bass gear. A couple of times i got the opportunity to futz with his stuff. That was the only Rick I've played. I even played through a late '70s SVT + 810 flatback and monkeyed around on a Dual showman for about 5 minutes with the Rick.
It sounded better through the fender but I didn't like either. Too trebly
Why the **** I didn't RicOsound the two of them I'll never know but now 5 years later I'm kicking myself.
Still i liked the fretless corvette better than the Rick regardless of which amp I was using.

While I was not watching the game, I was putting this together and having a stellar GH practice...

The DOD is perfect for the little grit and boost I was missing from my effects rig.

The Blue Box is everything I was hoping it would be, massively fuzzy and glitchy into weird oscillations. The sub octave sounds super clear with those Peavey Lo Rider 18s pumping down to 20hz. There's a bit of a volume drop if its alone, but I doubt I'll ever run just the Blue Box, or my Lucifuzz for that matter, by itself. The DOD will be on all the time unless I want a really clean tone.

I also have yet to ever run my Dunwich preamp at 18v, the Voodoo Labs will allow me to do that as soon as I buy a splitter cable. But even still just running it at 9v like everything else I thought it sounded a lot better than just the one spot and a daisy chain. Can't wait for that added 18v headroom, my other pedals are going to love it.

It will also mean the Voodoo is full so no more pedals on this buying spree ive been on...

GH booked our first concert tonight as well! September 19th in Madison at the Wisco, with the other drum and bass two piece well be doing a split with. The other band had to back out, so he was looking another band or two so he wouldnt have to cancel the show. VEGA may play it as well, got to talk to the guys first. We have some serious work to do to make sure our songs are show ready, one is 98% there and the other one we made massive headway with tonight. We can totally do it, and be tons of fun.

I've always played my Rickenbacker using either one pickup or the other, almost never both. Usually it's just bridge pickup, tone pot in (mine has the more recent wiring harness).

Yeah... neck pickup to the SVT + 810 and bridge pickup to the Dual Showman might have been pretty damn sweet.

man, I just watched an early 2000s rammstein live concert. that's some solid stingray bass.

gotta say, the song Amerika is still completely and entirely accurate almost ten years on.

The stingray bass was used many years ago, now Oliver Riedel plays Sandberg basses and uses a Glockenklang Heart Rock amp.

Loved the SGFX Beta so much I bought the guitar version Zeta too. Zeta is meh on bass but great on guitar. Does sound good with both on for bass though, lots of grind that way. Ron FN Swanson has some back up singers now.

5'11" - no Ric, probably never will. No engineered cabs, probably never will.

It's simply a matter of money. If I have $1k + to spend, I'm probably going to use it to travel. Maybe someday if I'm making obscene amounts of money I'll reconsider, but not likely.
