Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Morning fellows.
Daughter goes to preschool orientation today. Maybe I should feel something but it's kind of blah... Probably first day at preschool will give me the stereotypical "parenting jitters." At least it's not like high school or something then I could feel old legitimately.

The Ric is staying in E standard. It's a shorter scale, and I don't want to mess with it. I'm going to leave it be for a few years. This is the first nice bass I've ever had. I'm just going to play the hell out of it like it was my first bass.

6'2"
weight uhh, it's been a few years since I weighed myself... 270? I carry my weight well, nobody believes me.
If I get back down to 200 and stand up straight I'm closer to 6'3" haha

I agree with Ron. If you don't like listening to your own music, who will?

Last night I jammed with a drummer who just moved here from the Netherlands. Cool guy, lots of fun jamming. He's way into the style, has been to Roadburn a bunch of times. Not sure if he's going to be down to start a real band though, since it's about an hour to an hour and a half drive one way for him, but he does want to jam again.

That's a long commute.

Tomorrow is health insurance health assessment.
Here's how it will go:
Them: "You're weight is over the optimum amount."
Me: "No shiit, I own a mirror."
Them: "Try to lose some weight."
Me: "Will do."

They were recommending spending about 5 hours a week in the gym today to everyone.

"Find 5 hours in my schedule, and I'll be there."

Yeah, I'm glad they don't do that kind of thing here. You can sign up for assessments, but it's not mandatory and they don't push you to spend 5 hours a week at the gym.

They are not mandatory for me. The assessment is free and they do 40+ tests on the blood taken, and only give you the results. It also lowers my insurance by ~$400 a year.

So I get paid to have a health screening, with no conditions applied to it.

5'11" No Ric yet. Always wanted one but couldn't afford one. Now I have unused basses in the closet I need to unload first, and the quality of the G&L I ordered was so high that for a given $1600 I'd order another. Only way I'll spend on a Ric is if I get to play it first.

Also have a "boutique" Acme low b4 collecting dust in the studio.

We might look at releasing a split at some point, too. And thanks to Janitor, we are one step closer to getting out of state. You north easterners have it made. In this state, there are three cities that have some sort of a scene. Next closest place is ABQ, New Mexico. We might try to go down in spring...

The closest city to Boise is SLC, which is like 7hrs away. Portland is 8, or so. It sucks.

Besides work, I have nothing but time.
I'm pretty much a recluse now. No woman, no band, don't go out to bars much anymore, no drugs, no pets, no kids. So it's work and then whatever I feel like doing. Which usually isn't sh*t. That's part of the reason why I'm trying to get back in the good habit of practicing everyday.
I also need to try to work in some meditation or something and reading.
