Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I have to admit, I am relatively new to the doom/stoner scene and I have an absolutely atrocious memory for band/song names. So discovering bands that many of you probably consider to be your bread and butter are a daily thing for me. In regard to that, I have recently discovered Acid King and I dig them hard. Now I know that passive bass (primarily P bass/Ric) + big ass rig are staples, but what I immediately noticed about Acid King was that ripping J bass. Now I am a P guy at heart but grew up listening to Tim Commerford. Those gnarly J tones hit home hard for me. Are there any other relatively well known bands in the genre that have a J wielding bassist?
Made it through all three days of Riot Fest. Great lineup of bands over the weekend, but right now I'm paying the price for my over-indulgence.

Can you recommend any similar bands to Acetone? I goggled similar bands but they are all coming ambient with not much guitar and bass like Acetone?
I had a jam with that drummer again on Sunday. There was supposed to be a guitar player coming, that was the reason why we were getting together, but he never showed up. Seems like the drummer got over the whole thing about wanting to try out that post rock guitarist and is all the way on board with what I'm doing now at least.
I don't know of any bands that sound a whole lot like them, but maybe some other slowcore bands from the same era:

But I don't dig any of those bands nearly as much as Acetone.
Bought the last two clearance sets of Dunlop 5 string nickels from bass strings online. The flex steels were gone from amazon.
Guess I'm not trying anything new this time.
Going to scope out New Mexico with my family next month. Looking to gig there this April/May.
Going to miss Earth on 10/1. Pretty bummed out.

Got to roll into Portland this weekend, choke some bitches out, then dash back to Boise. Very fun time.
Learning new songs with Mariana is one of the most painful processes in the world. All the guys are so ADD they just want to move on to playing. So, isntead of getting to work through new parts we just get to jam on our current songs. Taking steps to provide the songs to them all figured out...I write everything on guitar already, basslines are mine, and can track all the drums in EZdrummer/Reaper. Just need to send 'em the new stuff all nice and packaged and say, "learn this poopie b!tches! we'll be playing it next week!" Will be interesting how that turns out.

Off to get fitted for custom earplugs tomorrow. Probably my only gear purchase for a while. I haven't even bothered taking my amp down to practice lately, just been using the Trace Elliot 4x10 that comes with the room. Apparently they might be closing down in a few months too, so no idea where we'll be practicing.

Acid King has had a number of bass players, including Guy Pinhas.
Anyway, Ozo from Truckfighters tears it up on JBass.
my halloween 3 season of the witch masks were marked on the usps tracking page as undeliverable two saturdays ago and i don't know what to do, we need them for our halloween show and some sculptures i'm making(the post office said the package's label wasn't complete and the distributor hasn't been all that helpful, even though i said i'd pay the ten bucks to reship them, i'm a little leery, because there was another issue of this in the past and the owner of the mask place got into a huge emotional blowout on a review site with a customer)
