Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

For me it is just fine. This place is open 24/7/365. There is always someone here, and I can get in when ever I need to.
Sometimes family don't need to know what I have coming or going. Especially before I had clarification what qualified for property separation in California divorce proceedings. Come to find out anything purchased after the decision (not filing complete) is made is not considered community property.

It's nice to get the call from the receptionist that I have a package. My usual only question is if the box is folded in half... The last Ibby RB650 was sent to the office but the ATK came here directly... Man I'm a fan of ATK now. Thing just slays. The RB650's are lonely now.

I'm not sure if it's what you just said, but my page is covered on divorce ads now. Not married so can't be anything I've looked up before. Ads are creepy like that now.

Is your ATK 4 or 5 strings?

Lately I've only seen the occasional 5er or an American made one that was $$. I'd love to try a cheaper 4 string one.

I was lucky to find an ATK700, so four banger. It's tuned to BEAD. I don't need a 5 for the music were writing now.

Funny as the drummer has been dolling out riffs lately and instead of transposing to B we kept them in D. His guitar at home is tuned to drop D. Feels good to move around the board a little more and not just hang on B as the root of the song.

One of these days I'll have another ATK and eventually will jump on a Ric. I need spares so if I tear one apart for cleanup or retrofit I'm not in a rush to slap them back together.

It was nice meeting you Satyrnine! See you again this weekend I hope!

BAM! Needs new strings and a real amp worship sesh before I really can say anything. But the metallic red looks cool like almost don't paint it cool...and it plays like a Matsumoku bass should.

I ship stuff to work.... ;)

I get all my stuff shipped to work as well. I have almost never successfully received a package at home. The stuff we get from Amazon, they just leave on the porch or behind our chimney or something. Every time I order some gear though, it's like the run up, ring the doorbell and sprint back to the truck. I have answered the door literally 2 seconds after they rang the bell before and the truck was pulling away. If I'm due for a Saturday delivery, they usually just bring it back on Monday with no issue. I'm not concerned about waiting an extra day or too, I have sh*t to do on the weekends.

It's slow in here today. Where is everyone? Doing cooler ****?

Workin...I was out and about all day. I don't have much to post about lately anyway, other than pissing and moaning about not ever being able to start a band lol. I don't have any money to buy gear or buy materials for any DIY projects. I asked my brother if he wants to collaborate on doing some vocals for some of those demo tracks I posted before. I'm going to go back and work on them some more, rewrite them a bit. I never did any additional work on them, since I was hoping to start a band with them, but it never happened after 6 months of intensely searching for and auditioning people. I need someone to collaborate with and bounce ideas off of, I get stuck in my head when I'm all by myself. He's into the song and he hasn't done a band in a couple of years and doesn't want to commit to doing anything full time, so it's about his speed. Plus, he lives close by to me and could pop in any time to record some tracks. He also has much more interest in writing lyrics than I do these days. He mostly been in metalcore bands, but at least off the older more death metal influenced tip and not the goofy crabcore sh*t, so I don't hold it against him.

Don't you dare ruin that by repainting it. Play and impart your own mojo on that bad boy... Great find. I've never seen one before.

Glad I was able to say Hi Max, you killed it! Looked like Dorthia was having epic monitor issues throughout the night, and I was REALLY surprised they didn't put any reverb/delay on her voice. I mean, that's her signature haunting "Huge" sound. Regardless, was absolutely amazing. Their guitarists were using Stomp Under Foot Green Russian clones. I felt bad for the ATW bassists Ric. Thing was MOLESTED!
I'm no purist or anything... but I kinda think that looks stupid.

Yeah not painting it. But I still kinda want a cool nebula or something on the back...

Who here thinks .110 long scale will fit on this bad boy

If take the old strings off one of your other basses to try this. Then use the new set on the full scale. Before destroying a new set cutting it too short and it not working.

Read all the pages on TB about long scale and big gauge
strings on short scales. It's informative and disappointing.

Well I was about to put the 110 on and then I realized the strings were the same...it has 110s on it already. Tryed out drop A# and it be a wet noodle to most people but it's a little floppy for my liking, but nothing i can't deal with. Quite a bit of fret buzz but that won't be heard over 418s.

Sweet bass max.

Been burned out on music for a couple of days. Nothing had been good.
Spun this after work.

Drank a couple of these.

Feeling good. Some how funk is a palate cleanser.

I go in cycles. I mostly mix up what I'm listening to, within genre. Once I start listening to sabbath over and over, I'll listen to west coast rap. Then I'll listen to certain hip hop albums I have. Get my funk and my rhymes. Then hardcore spastic stuff. Then some Scandinavian metal. Before coming back to Motörhead and high on fire. I usually throw on a premixed station, like Laz and Tony have, when I'm doing tasks. Dishes are better to music.
