Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Well, after almost 2 years w/o a bass (except one in pieces) I am happy to annouce my cheapo-crappy NBD. It's a MIJ (Matsumoko-made) Lotus P ca. 1978.

Yeah, it ain't much to write home about, but I have to live cheap. Neck is killer, bridge is massive, pots a little scratchy, but otherwise good shape. Next project: building the amp rig of destruction.

Pics are of a bass pretty much identical to the one I just scored, except mine is a top-loader and the burst is less reddish and more subtle.

Might stick a SD 1/4 Pounder in there, but the stock pup sounds pretty ace.

More than that, I have had songs that were just not clicking for us as a band. Two week break, and I didnt touch the material, and some how it is all right there when we get back.

I love, love, love my Lotus LP from the same era.

The old carvin stuff always looks pretty cool. But yea I'd end up with vintage peavey probably here.

On a similar subject, what's European/English vintage budget gear? I only ever hear of Marshall, ormat, vox and selmer.

The head might be an easy fix - thing is that it will probably still have zero resale value. Carvin makes great stuff, but they only sell direct so most people have zero experience with their products. So, very few people are willing to pay any sort of money for them. Good for folks in the know, but poopy for folks trying to sell it.

Texted her out of curiosity. It's blowing fuses and they don't know anything.

But I found a $50 picnic table and that's even cooler.
