Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Heck with the cab I want to see the hot rod/buggy that is behind it.
Stumbled upon this today:

Also, didn't have band practice this week as the guitarist was on a business trip. We've scheduled two practices next week, day after day, wonder if it works out

Then we've got two weeks' break as said guitarist is going on vacation. poopie, we've came to terms with the drummer and he stopped being a guest and started coming regularly and now this, just as things started getting smoother...
Hate those breaks.

I could probably cop the SVT rainbow 810 for like $300-350, but I think my bandmates would tell me to **** off if I showed up to a gig with it.
@CL400Peavey Do you think that the Ampeg 218 would play nicely with the 810e? I could also run 2 amps, 4 pro > 810 and Eden WT550 or Acoustic 600W >218. Would you advise finding some new more modern drivers for it?
I feel you on that one. My band played a show in the beginning of August. We haven't rehearsed since then and I have basically been told that we don't rehearse unless we have a show or studio time lined up or we are going over new material... That and my post yesterday where I described how they don't want my tone to cut through at all, just "huge low growling bass tones". I think I need to find a new band. I just don't really know anybody around town and am pretty socially reclusive. I love playing doom/stoner rock and while I am not a killer bassist by any means, I am better than a lot of bassists out there. In all honestly I really don't care that much about playing live. I just want to write doom songs and play with a group of people on a regular basis.

Use these breaks to reflect and work on other stuff to play. I missed practice going to a show Wednesday but have plenty of material to rehearse on my own so practice goes smooth with the band. The singer is capturing all the sessions with a mp3 recorder. So when we come up with changes we don't forget our progression in the writing process. He takes these and sends them out as needed so we all keep up between session. It's nice not having a pre Madonna vocalist who thinks about the composition and delivery of the material.
That is hard to say.
What I think you could do, is run your full range sound to one side of the "High" side of the amp, and run your 810e off of it. Then run just your low end to the "low" side, and run the 218 off of that. Then you could pick the cut off point with the cross over. This would boost your low end, and keep the highs out of the signal to one cab. You may still get some wonky phase stuff in the lows, but at least your highs would be preserved. That is where your tone/presence lives anyways.
Run your amp in "bi amp". Take your unbalanced "wet" signal from your line out and run that to the "B/high" channel input. Run your "Bi-amp" low output to your "A/low" input. You should be able to balance the content to the low side, and pick your frequency cut off (~800hz).

Yeah, we do the same. Every practice is recorded by everyone and then the best sounding version is shared among us to have something to ponder on till the next practice.
Riff Reaper Records is a label that just starting up that will be more of a collection of bands under one name that help each other distribute their stuff and help them out when traveling. Our album is their first release and they have a few other awesome bands in the works right now. They also got us a bit of a deal on the CDs.
it looks like the original piping in still there so makes me wonder if that fabric is just covering the original grill cloth. hell if all the drivers work buy that and get some vintage grill cloth from flip tops!

Just got word the 1966 B-15N lives! Best part is it's still 100% original, no new tube, no new caps needed, just touched up a couple solder joints, biased, and adjusted a few things, apparently it's spec-ing perfect. I'll be picking it up later tonight. Plus the wife is going out to the burbs to babysit our niece and nephew for a few hours this evening. So now I'll have some free time to go pick up the amp, and give it a proper run through. Probably will also involve a 6 pack and some netflix horror movies I've been meaning to catch up on as well.

I actually hate rat fur. Sure, it doesn't rip as easily as tolex, but it's basically a sponge.
You don't have to, but there is a reason other than aesthetics to do so. It apparently provides a further layer for moisture to slip off of.

I might be getting a smartphone soon.
I'd been wary because touch screens often, in the past, haven't registered my fingers, I think partly due to my callouses. The newer ones seem better, though. I also need one that will be fairly durable, because, well, I know myself, and I know I'm not going to baby it.
This sounds kick ass. It's the way music as commerce has to go, I think. More DIY, interactive. Kinda reminds me of the old punk days ala "Maximum Rock 'n Roll" and such where bands would help each other book tours, crash at each others' places while traveling around, help get tapes (yes, back then it was tapes) out to people, etc. But this sounds like a much more professional, grander scale. Cool.

Certainly wouldn't call 'em doom or stoner based on what little I've heard. But I was wondering if anyone here thought they were worth checking out. I mean, I don't have a ton of time or money. I've heard Crack the Skye and Blood Mountain but I don't remember being too blown away or anything. Are they worth my time? If so, recommendations for an album of theirs to try them out again?
I'm always looking for good heavy stuff.
