I think the pharaoh had fallen out of favor with a bunch of the guys in here for bass...
Maybe a clean blend pedal? Shouldn't cost too much... Might help you find the tone you're looking for. I love having a clean blend on a pedal. Ron uses one too I think.

Had fun yesterday with practice. Used BB1 and AE HS with the BDPG more than I have in the past. It was likely due to the GK and JBL adding a more open base tone. It took the fuzz well.
I want one of these now... For the clean blend mostly. But it has plenty of other variables to monkey with.

Eh... I might get crucified for this, but I actually really have never liked southern (meaning southeastern USA) cuisine. Doesn't mean it's bad, just not my thing.

I'd much rather be in a funk cover band than a classic rock cover band. Maybe not what I'd listen to most of the time, but it'd beat the hell out of playing shaging Freebird at every goddamn show. I don't think I'm actually good enough to play funk, though, to be honest.
Eh, filing as an independent contractor isn't really as hard as people make it out to be. What I've done for that kind of thing (just independent work where my taxes weren't automatically deducted from my paycheck... the government doesn't really care whether that work is playing in a cover band or doing content editing), is put about 30% of every payday into a separate bank account that's not going to be touched until tax time, and than when I do my taxes, taking whatever I owe (which, depending how much money I earned, might be basically nothing) from there.
Damn, that's a shaging high-earning band.
Yeah, for me, the more fun a band is, the less I care about it being what I'd listen to on my own. And the less frustrating it is, the less I care about whether it's my own taste or not.
Money has never really entered into it, for me, as I've never had an opportunity to play in a band that made a lot of money. But the more money there is, the less I care about playing what I listen to.
My cab isn't new and high tech, though I do plan on using new, high tech drivers eventually.
Also, the Meatsmoke is cool, but if I were going to drop that much on a head or a preamp, I'd want an EQ I consider to be more versatile.
9 minutes? So short, practically radio friendly.
That's quite some nice gear. Sovteks are basically Russian Marshalls, right?
What amps are Soldanos like?

They pull $2-3K a week. Split 4-5 ways.
Yeah the new song is the longest I've ever played in a band.
I don't know much about those guitar amps, but my impressions were:
The sunn is all fuzzy beefy low end. The mig is wild and super hot and feedbacky. The Soldano is the perfect middle ground. Monstorous, punchy, crisp, just the right amount of out of control.
We ended up going with the Sunn and Soldano clone. In the end there are 10 guitar tracks and 4 bass tracks.

Our new 8 minute song feels incredibly short after playing our first album for a year.
Took the double muff apart, it's pretty clean on the inside. It passes signal when it's bypassed, but not when it's on. I suspect that it may have gotten beer spilled on it, then the pots got sticky. Sprayed with deoxit, pots loosened up and I'm getting weak signal now. Sprayed the pots again, going to let it sit and give it another try tomorrow. I hope it works.
I finally got to work on some solid riffs for a new band. My buddy who is going to play guitar came to town for a wedding and stayed at our house, so we worked on writing a song today. Leaning towards the riffy heavy rockin side, much like the riffs I usually play in my gear demos. Next weekend we should be jamming with the drummer.
Trees is a reddit subsection where people discuss it. That's where I assumed we borrowed the term from.
