Thanks, me too. One guy seems pretty pumped, he sent one email asking about practice times and if we had a spot. I gave him the info and the second email was 4 paragraphs long, so I think he's excited. Oh well, my expectations are low so hopefully I can avoid the most crushing disappointments.

Those roto swing66 stainless steels are really really good. Bright and clangy but can be toned down too.

They totally brought my bronco tone up even more. Give me a lot more definition that shorter basses can lose with the lower tension. I had put a low pass filter on it that gave a pretty good old school thump but nothing crazy. Now with roto strings, into the GK into the bassic I get this excellent "fluid" thump, it's heavy, thick but flows so well, I'm not sure how to put it, but it's just so smooth but articulate, it almost ungulates with a pulse.

Yep, I expect the worst. I'm sure what's going to happen is that we'll find a great guitar player who's a good fit, and my drummer will get a job offer out of state somewhere.

Anyway, guitar dude emailed me back saying that he's glad we're not a couple of kids in their late teens/early twenties, cuz they can be kind of annoying. No offense to anyone here, because you're all good dudes and I'd be happy to be in a band with any of you, but my inner old grump agreed with him. We're all hovering around the mid 30's mark. So, another plus for the new guy.

It's kinda nice being the "young" guy in the band at age 32. :)

Hell, I'm 34 , drummer and guitarist are both 31!
And yes, those young punks seem much more annoying than when I was one of them :D

When CL musician ads bring up age, it usually bums me out. I got out of a band where I was the youngest being in my 30's, all the other guys were in their late 40's, and kept finding ads looking for people to join doom metal bands where they'd say things like "Age is not an issue, so long as you're not an old guy like 28". Boooooooooo.

The amp sounds awesome. It's definitely got its own sound, not quite an svt, but it's got that totally classic ampeg sound to it. Doesn't go super deep, but handles low end nicely. Very articulate and just overall great sound.

Was able to dial in a good low volume apartment level tone, but it really does shine once you get the volume up some more. But considering I'll never find another of these for the steal I got it for, there is no way I can't hold onto it.

So looks like I've got a B-15n for my home rig now.

Really for home and apartment use, I really can't do better. Now I really can't wait to get to use it for a recording.

Cool, B15n must be a great amp. I think you should crank it up someday. My friend has B15s, which may be a little different to your B15n, but it absolutely rules when pushed to distort.

Yeah, that stings a little, but I'd be glad to have avoided the awkward audition/jam where you realize that no one else can legally enter a bar.

Related to this: I've been in school for a few weeks now, two classes. The first one is about half and half people closer to my age and people in their late teens early twenties. Everyone is cool. The other one I was put in a group where I'm the oldest person at the table by 15 years. Pretty hard to find common ground there. They asked me what my favorite disney animated movie is -

"I don't know I think the last one I saw was Aladdin, which was released before any of you were born."
