Our now ex guitar player played Torture when we went out to Des Moines. I was pretty impressed with that whole album. And it does sound like Alex Webster is starting to use a bit of dirt in his tone.

I don't know why I started looking at Fullton OCD videos but I was blown away. I've never made on sound this good! Have you?
Jeebus. I just have a Joyo UD, but I haven't made it sound quite like THAT. Then again, most of the time that I've had it, I've only had my bass with tapes, which isn't exactly "defined" sounding with any kind of distortion anyways xD
That's a similar tone to how I run my Ultimate Drive on my P bass. When I've used my actual OCD and a Jazz style bass though, I usually dial it in more medium gain and higher on the tone, because that combo does a great tight, grindy tone. The original OCD has a bit too much low end cut for me to like it with that same tone downtuned with my P bass.
I saw this thread minutes after it was posted and I thought to myself, "You should post here. For the sake of your gay best friend and the forward progress of humanity, you should post a comment." Then I thought about your exact sentiment and I figured I would just dodge the bullet and continue to be an upstanding, equal rights supporting bassist without the need for internet moral (self) validation.

I saw the first couple of posts in that gay wedding gig thread and closed it before I saw any messed up comments. I don't need any more reasons to be disappointed with humanity, I'm fully stocked.
I read through 3 or 4 pages after I let it stew for a while. I became supremely disappointed in the TB community and became extra grateful of the level of involvement I have carved into the S/D community. You guys rule, those dudes suck. And I have also gathered a list of people I would probably tell to pound salt if they responded to a classified ad.

I'm rocking either a G&L P Bass or a G&L l2000. I've only ever tried one in the store and it sounded "tinny" and lifeless. I may have to give it another try.

I love them. Not usually for S/D stuff, but they're just so goddamn fun. They basically last forever. I changed out my D'Addario black nylons after 3 years because replacements were on sale and my B string as a little frayed in a spot where I had forced it through the bridge. Still sounded great though. I don't think you would ever need more than one set unless you wanted them on multiple instruments.
If I ever take em off my Squier I'll just save them until I want tapes again.
When I first put them on I was surprised at how lively they sounded. I though they would just sound like flats with the tone control rolled all the way off. Rather than having no high end though, they have some, but the low mids are super thumpy and emphasized. Obviously, they don't result in instant upright sounds. But they make for a neat in-between. For vintage clean sounds through my old Acoustic combo or light overdriven garage rock, they're my go to. Hopefully this information helps kind of, but I'd say give them a try!
I have a gig the night before (10/10), but I'll try and convince the missus to let me out 2 nights in a row.

I think almost half of the people who post in this thread have a OCD or version of. The trick to added low end is to crank the volume as you see in the video its almost dimed.
