The weirdest thing about that same sex wedding gig thread, I don't know if anyone brought this up, is that the crux of the excuse for having an issue seems to be religious conflict. *good stuff*.

Concerns about supporting something that their religion is against or condemns. Do these guys who play in wedding bands vet every client for everything that conflicts with their religion? Do they ask what religion or denomination the people getting married are and object on that basis? I'm guessing most wedding receptions aren't held in a church with religious services going on, it's a party. Do they refuse to play parties that serve hard liquor? Do they never book gigs on Sundays? Do they refuse to play songs that have lyrics that portray premarital sex, divorce, not going to church on Sunday or some other such thing? My guess is no to all those things, because it's not about observing/defending/upholding their religious beliefs at all, but just about weird sexual confusion/fear, ignorance and bigotry.

I figured you all might have a favorite that your guitarists' use. Thinking about the Dunwich DA120, the EQD Talons, and the Catlinbread SFT or 5F6. I dig those FET amp in a box pedals.

The Empress Multidrive. It's not bass specific, but it has fuzz, distortion and overdrive in parallel and a limited high/low cut function that you could use like a crude crossover. So you could potentially mix fuzz and ovedrive or distortion in parallel and use the third channel as a clean blend with the highs rolled off. I looked into getting one for a while, but I didn't want to pay the full price and used ones for decent deals kept slipping through my fingers.

Good Call! I actually had one of these and I completely forgot about it. It was quite a good design but the sound wasn't worth $300.

Luckily there is a "Casual" mode. I am not a hardcore gamer. I generally suck at video games. Not horribly. I don't want anything extremely challenging or anything haha.

I would buy a 2DS, I hardly ever use the 3d function.

Like I said before I have nothing but time. I should be practicing more though

Atlus is dominating! That Persona Q looks cool. I played a bunch of Persona 4 before I lost all my save data. Need to look into other Shin Megami Tensei games.
Square Enix continues to f-ck us. Atlus puts forth more effort to get games to us. I like that. I would really like to play Dragon Quest 7 on the 3ds, but that probably wont happen. Still not sure I want to spend $80 on a PS1 game.

Destiny... yeah... Newer big world Halo right? I was done with shooters after Halo 2 came out. Goldeneye still has a special place in my heart. Just not into them in this point in my life. I might get into one somewhere down the line. I miss playing games with other people in the same room. haha. I just recently got into RPGs the last few years. So the 20yrs I missed out on will keep me busy for a loooong time.

This reminds me. I need to put diablo on my computer. Bought 1&2 in a battle chest for 9.99 a few years ago. When that computer poopie the bed, I didn't install on the new one.

LM308 Rat - even in standard tuning that thing is brutally thick and heavy. Sounds nothing like the cheesy boss or dod/digitech pedals from the same era.

My brother in law plays a lot of acoustic so I thought it might be fun to have one. Although at the same time it's not very difficult to bring a normal bass + tiny combo amp. Probably a waste of money as the quality seems pretty poor on a lot of the budget stuff.

Going to see Torche tonight for the first time, really stoked.

I think the HM-2 fits in every heavy genre. But that's just me.

I saw them, but at the time I didn't care for their music. Lot's of energy at least from the crowd. It was a good show, but I didn't care and left early. I'd like to see them again. Now that I love their stuff.

Also thinking about getting another Boss ODB-3 and modding it as the one I had had some sweet heavy tones on guitar. I remember I had the VFE Alpha Dog(Rat clone) at the same time as the modded ODB-3 and preferred the Boss to the VFE for the heavy at the time.

The OCD is actually pretty decent for high gain guitar tones. There are a lot of good high gain pedals for guitar actually, it all depends on the budget and the features you want.

Yea the two big scenarios that play out in my head is being on the couch and being sooo lazy I wouldn't want to even turn and amp on or plug in. Or for camping.

I have an acoustic guitar, and a bass practice amp on a bar stool in my living room so I can jam alone or with someone.

Anything else is electric. Though the intro to space cadet is also a good reason to buy one.

I am set for fuzz and low to medium gain overdrives now and stacking them. It's just when I watch the vids of EQD Talons and the Catalinbread SFT where the really push the gain, I don't have that sound and really dig it. I like how they still sound good at lower gain settings too. Just trying to narrow the search down a little for less trying out and flipping high gain pedals though that may be taking the fun out of it LOL.

If you're going to try out those faaaancy boo-teek pedals, see if you can get an Ibanez ClassicMetal CM5 soundtank and let us know how that compares. I'm not really kidding; it was my first dirt pedal buy back in the early 90's when I was first learning to play; played my first sabbath riffs through it. I chose it for the same reasons you mention. I always liked the sound of it. Very thick and midrangey, never lacked for gain. Nice contrast to my friends Metal Zone back in the day.

Unfortunately it's built in a cheap POS plastic enclosure with a flimsy switch. I broke two. Maybe I dig mine out and mount the board in a sturdier box and put a more rugged switch on it... hmmm..

Fancy or high end is not a requirement. I gots me a Behringer Noise Gate at the end of the pedal chain keeping my chain and my wallet in check LOL. I actually dig the Berhringer better than the Boss I had that it is a clone of, it is quiet and works better IMO. And after some pricey Muff variants I tried out, I am happiest with the $65 no name Russian Clone I just snatched up on ebay. I still can't get over how the thing doesn't fart out, maybe cause a Russian is lower gain than the other Muff variants I had.

There's a bunch of well reviewed Joyo and Behringer distortion pedals, if you want something on the cheap. The Joyo US Dream and Ultimate Drive both sound pretty good for high gain. The thing that makes the UD nice on bass makes it a bit dark on guitar, but it does sound heavy and not too scooped sounding. I've wanted a US Dream, just haven't had any spare cash in a while. The Behringer stuff is pretty much all Boss clones, so they have an HM2 copy and a few other things people like.

Thanks dude, I don't do anything special. I just plug in, twiddle a few knobs and record. I guess I have an ear for tone? Dunno, I feel like I do pretty much nothing and have a hard time passing on tips when people ask me how to make stuff sound good lol.
