Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

That is because your markbass 410 is reaching its mechanical limits, and gets flubby like that.

I have not played the ashdown, as they do not have any kind of presence near me, until I get to someplace like chicago. Could be worth checking out.

I don't think so; with slightly lower volumes and with a HEAVY bass boost (did it on purpose to check which of the two was the bottleneck) the cab doesn't fart, and I can see that the speakers are not excursing much. When they do fart, they move a lot more.
Similarly, if I zero the bass and VPF, and push the master, things get murky.

Mind ya it's no deal killer but I'd like things to work as good as they should. Could be that the big caps need replacing on the amp, it was made in 2006 IIRC.

They may be reaching their limits in the mid bass hump though. ;)

Could be, but still I don't see them overexcursing, and I tried dialing out that hump via amp EQ. Might be worth trying to dial it out with my 30 band EQ, while using aggressive HPF.

Over and out for now, will read your answer tomorrow. I have *&%*/$ support tickets to answer!

After doing some research it appears that my Lotus LP is a Matsumoko. So that's pretty cool. Way to go 16-year-old me arguing the crusty old pawn shop guy down to $50! Glad I hung on to it all of these years.

Love me some Matsumoku gear. I got a hankering to pick up one of the 32 inch Vantage or 32 inch Aria TSB/CSB models. Got to diddle the CSB Cardinal single pup model at the local guitar shop and it had such nice build quality, the pup sounded great, and the neck was fast and the strings had normal tension, I didn't know it was a 32 inch until I looked it up, made sense that it seemed so easy to play though. I would love to land a double p Vantage with Dimarzios.

My ex is weird she texted me at 1am last night asking what I was doing. I Say I'm at the grocery store. Then she asked for what I was buying. Then she replies with a made up dish based on the stuff I bought and that was that.

She did a similar thing like 6 months ago, and again before that. So I guess this winter I should expect a similar random question and response at a random time for no reason.

Edit
Out with the old to make room for the new

That is just weird. You need to find the next ex....

I got a random text from a ex a few months back. But that was after 6-7 years of no contact. She had just gotten divorced, I suppose she was thinking of old times.

OK. I'm intrigued.

I wanted a burly high-output guitar humbucker in the bridge for heavy distortion with lots of upper mids, to use in a bi-amping setup while the standard P-bass pickup provides the cleanish solid lows. I already have another squier p-bass special set up like this, but I crammed a single-coil sized GFS hot rails in the bridge spot with no wood-routing required. It barely reaches the outer strings. I was a little hesistant to take a router to it given my complete lack of woodworking skills. But finding the white squier on craigslist for $50 cured that. If I like the sonic results, I might rout the bridge cavity of my older squier as well and get another X2n-7.

It's weird and I didn't even have her number so I didn't know who it was that knew my name and started asking abut me. that always wigs me out. Turns out the area code is from her country of origin so I guess she moved back.

Yes I do need a new ex lol. Casual isn't as fun imo.

Oh and I forget again what are the best usps boxes in terms of cost for shipping pedals like a boss.

In case anyone here is looking for a copy or missed out the first time around, we're putting the second pressing of Miserable up for sale tomorrow at 10:00am (chicago time).

We'll also have some random shirts restocked and such.

This pressing is 500 on black, and 500 on a marbled grey, all 180 gram vinyl.

I'll post a link tomorrow once it's up and for sale.

Digging your tunes on soundcloud for my afternoon spin, fun stuff!

So a good buddy just offered me his epi non reverse t bird for $300.

Some pondering must be done. The V is awesome but not quite use able being short scale. The bird has a reverse style headstock so the lowest string has the longest travel, seems like it would be perfect for low tuning.

The V might be for sale soon.

I had 3 girls I dated at different times and then broke it off under amicable circumstances (school, jobs, Army, etc). Like clockwork I'd get an email or a letter every 6-8 months, we'd hang out to see if it was gonna go anywhere, then drift back to our normal lives. Upside is I had 3 women who kept pursuing me for several years each, downside is that my feelings for any one of them made it very difficult to create new relationships because I was always waiting for the next round.

Then I grabbed a cutie 9 years younger than me (legal, just tacky) and have been happy for the last 11 years.
