Well, the Kadavar show yesterday was pretty cool.
The drummer was a beast.
Bass player played a sweet rig of HiWatts, Ampegs and Peavey cabs with a Rick. I sling my guitar low as I've got pretty long hands, but if I took this guy's Rick, I'd have it somewhere around my knees. He was like 7' tall, but it was very low slung anyway.
Here's a pic of the rig I took after the concert. I have a feeling that it wasn't all plugged in because the club wasn't so big and I can still hear.

Pumped out another new song from the Supervoid Hit Machine at practice last night. We've got a lot of new material that I'm head over heels for.
Lately I really only use my Bluebeard in very specific instances, like when we play a super huge fuzzy stoner rock riff. Then I stack it with the Wizard Fuzz. Otherwise, I love the tone and cut I get from just the Wizard Fuzz. Really digging my tone lately. After seeing Torche live I realized that our bass tones are pretty damn similar, which makes sense with the EGC, fuzz, etc.

taking the skyline p to get set up today, got some weird buzzing issue with the A string that i can't figure out, tried the neck totally straight and then added some relief and i've still got the buzzing, maybe the strings aren't wrapped so bueno, but i guess greg will figure that out, i'm too tired to deal with it and i've gotta go to the desert to shoot photos tomorrow anyway, hoping the mesa survives the halloween show, usually things sound totally amazing right before they break ime, still fine tuning the tracks for the museum, one stoner/trip hop cell phone demo number, one goth surf song, and one math rock psych song, i guess that's what happens when you make music inspired by your weird photography

Gear is afoot lately.
My friend who has all the amps acquired an Ampeg SVT-IIP preamp, which is the same preamp that's in my SVT-III or the SVT-II (non-pro), he decided he didn't like it, so I took it off his hands since he got a deal on it, currently just been using it with my Carvin in stereo. 1150 watts per side is still pretty loud.
Took my Aria P-bass and the Hondo in for a pickup swap. The OG Dimarzio is going into the Aria, as well as a setup and fancy new black PG. The hondo will get the old Aria pickup (which doesn't sound bad actually) and then it's getting sold.
Getting the Rat I got from Mbelue fixed up, stoked for that to get back up and running.
Spoke to Kevin at EGC and the neck for my G3 is in for fretting should be done and ready in a couple weeks.
I've got an open spot on my board, thinking of getting a fuzz or filter of some sort. I don't really NEED anything, but there is this one part in a song we play often where I do a "lead" that I wish would stand out a little more. I used a bluebeard/murf/delay on the recording of it, but that's too much poopie for one part. Maybe some small cheap fuzz or dirt to boost up/change my sound is in order.
Finally, got some cab stuff coming up on the horizion, nothing concrete yet, but cool things will be coming.
For all the gear stuff going on, I have no actual new gear or pictures to share....yet.

This is the exact bass I've been looking for lately. It matches the '80 Ibanez Roadster guitar I bought and love. I think they're not actually Dimarzio pickups, but pretty much exact copies. I read a couple things that Dimarzio sued Ibanez over it, but it might have just been the guitar pickups. I know that the pickups in my Roadster guitar sound exactly like Super Distortions. I've only been able to find the black and maple ones or people were advertising RoadSTAR basses as Roadster. Haven't been able to find one for a price I can afford and that burst finish. I found one on the CL for near Sacramento, but the guy never got back to me about it. I have an ebay alert for it, but haven't been hitting the CL ads too much lately, since cash has been pretty tight anyway.
I am going to let it pass, since I want to finish the Jazzbird, and keep my eyes out for one of the Yamaha Attitude pj 5 strings that I played at Sam Ash and never liked a 5 string better even if it is made in Taiwan. I will shoot you a pm about the Roadster in case you want it. Not sure if you noticed the pic of the dyed jazzbird body but I remembered you were interested in using the artist oil for dying and it worked great for me.

I didn't see that, I'll have to go hunting for it. It's bumming me out that all my wood working projects have been put on the back burner lately, but I still have a bunch of large tool, counters and cabinets piled up in the middle of my garage. I've got to clean that out and set everything up before I get back on making things. Plus, my materials budget for all the builds I had planned was totally sapped by paying for all that dental work out of pocket. I have some a bunch of lumber waiting for body builds that are just sitting (some select alder and a bunch of reclaimed barn floor boards). I'm hoping to finish sanding down my pine pbass body soon and get it refinished soon, I was considering just hand brushing it with black milk paint and oiling it. I'm just finishing up mixing a whole album for a local band, so I'm hoping to have a little bit of extra cash coming up soon for a few things.
In other news, I got the shipment notification for my Carvin P bass. It should be here on Friday. I'll probably be out of the office most of the day, since we setting up a booth for a home show this weekend, hopefully someone is at work to sign for it.
Here's the pic of the body with the coat of ivory black artist oil on it. Letting it dry for about a week and then I will start layering the coats of tru oil over it. A pic of the test piece, which last night I put a coat of tru oil on it to make sure it will really work. It rubbed the slightest excess artist oil off but didn't remove any dye from the wood, so it will work out fine. And also a pic of Bubbles the Cocker Spaniel/Pomeranian mutt puppy just because he rocks.
