Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Echo Shifter is a decent pedal, but the tap tempo kinda sucks - it only takes effect when the pedal is on, and then reverts back to the slider setting as soon as you turn it off. Means you can't use the tap to "pre-set" the effect.

I also notice a big change in sound when turning in the oscillation switch (bit more distorted, bit lower volume). It works for me, but it's not a smooth transition into self oscillation.

I'd still buy another one though.

This is why i haven't pulled the trigger on it, can't set the tempo when the pedal is disengaged. I knew their was a reason why, i just never recall. The supa puss seems pretty legit, going to do some stalking on that one. The FX doc mod seems cool too but i remember not liking the carbon copy for some reason and its wasn't because it didn't have TT.

Yes! That pissed me off when I realized it. It would have been so much better if you could set the tempo before you turn on the effect. So close to something great.

nice sounding delay, but at the end of the day I just couldn't figure out how to use it in a band mix so I sold it.

Got the same. I got the Idiotbox Dimension X that I really like and haul to every practice, but the guitarist runs his Boss RE-20 on most of the time and I just see no way I'll use it. I mean I use it just to psych things up a bit when we jam sometimes, but that's it.

It's like a speed shift of the wave, I always keep it flipped up. Love me some phaser on bass and guitar.

I always felt it beefs the phaser up a bit. I noticed a slight volume drop when I flip the Small Stone on and it's on its way out of my board if I don't find a way to use it in a band.

Do you have the full sized or the Nano, as the Nano doesn't have that volume drop.

[peedor, post: 16512119, member: 254009"]Nano. Maybe it's just a frequency change.[/QUOTE]

I might not hear it since I am just playing at home. But it was pretty noticeable when I had the full size version. If you can find a Nobels Phaser it can do the Small Stone sounds plus a lot more and has a master volume. It can be found for cheap when they pop up for sale.

See I read the old big boxes had a volume issue the nano fixed. Though like you said the phasers frequency modulating will by default alter things perhaps nullifying boosts to certain freqs.

The psilocybe also peaks my interest but is pricy. I like the sounds of clips I'd heard before, but I dig the one knob simplicity of the ss.

Since I took today off, to recover from working a home show all weekend, I had the time to make some quick demo clips of my new bass. One "clean" clip and some with the Joyo Ultimate Drive, Wren & Cuff Pickle Pie B, Dunwich Volt Thrower and Dunwich Cthulhu Fuzz. Pretty much just picked my top of the heap dirt pedals for bass right now. Thought about doing the Wizard Fuzz as well, but I use it more for guitar and like the thick fuzz of the Cthulhu more.

I think I preferred Cthulu. W&C was definitely last.
