Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

totally sold on the MF Delay + EP-3. only $400NZD together as well. pretty great considering the MF104M is $1000+.

That's my next pedal purchase.

No pad on the 66. Tried disconnecting them all together and that worked for awhile, but now I've got it back stock.

I've thought of a crossover/LPF but having a cab that only does subs sounds weird when it is side by side with a full range cab. Could stack them both on their sides but then it becomes a whole new pain to deal with.

That's what I do with my 810 and 218+210 since my 218+210s crossover is brokedid.

That super modern, hi-fi thing, like a 66 is the ultimate for some folks and not so much for others. You could address different strategies for how to deal with that, but it's pretty clear after trying a bunch of different things, you simply prefer sealed cabs. I totally get that, though I don't think I would've a couple years ago. There are several Greenboy cabs I like and use, but it's silly to think there's one solution for everyone. I've been goofing around with a sealed cab I built to experiment with. They're a different world for sure and I really like the one I've been using. Still building different prototypes, including a sealed 218. One model is a simple 218 and another uses mid drivers, though they aren't as forward sounding as what you'd hear on a 66 for example.

As a lover of 18s, I'm all over this like fat kid on cake.

Mark sent me a pic of the 1x18 with two mid drivers before. I'm still waiting to see that sealed 2x18. I can't say I don't want one...because I want one.

At this point I don't have anything for sale. I have to finish up all my greenboy obligations, then I plan to take a break from building greenboy cabs for awhile. I currently have been messing around with my sealed 18 with two small mid drivers and like it a lot. Over the next few weeks I'll be (slowly) putting together a prototype with two 18's and four small mid drivers. Once testing is done and we're happy with the designs, I'm gonna do the same cabs without mid drivers as well and take it from there.

By the time you have a sealed 2x18 in production, I might actually have money.

Your best bet is going to be something like an old, used toyota pickup. Cheap, dependable, repairable, parts available. Anything else gets expensive and difficult to maintain.

When I was in high school kids were buying AMC Eagles for their off-road funtimes, but they're getting harder to find and expensive to maintain. Just get a small 4WD pickup. You could even do your camper project on a small truck very easily.

He rambled very quickly through his explanation of why he was selling meat door to door. Something about he has a truck and there's always a little extra and he buys them for $4 each. All I heard was "tainted meat...tainted meat...TAINT MEAT". It's worth noting that my work is in an industrial area, in the midst of a sea of psychotic vagrants, drug addled homeless people and recently dropped off parolees who haven't yet received their ankle bracelet. It's not like I'm in a business park, next to a grocery store or somewhere someone might have a reason to have a bunch of meat on them. If he even did, it might have just been a mail fraud scam, I didn't follow up and ask to see the goods.

hahaha, i don't think that person from Hong Kong found what they were looking for on our bandcamp site.

I like those two - Tyrese is good as the reluctant badass - though he should have killed the cannibal dude when he had the chance.

Also - while the Machete Promise was definitely superbadass, I would have liked to have seen Rick's group kill Gareth's friends, but let Gareth live, then wait for his friends to turn and have them eat Gareth alive. THAT would have been some poetic cannibal/zombie justice.

Oh well.
