Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I live in a town of like 115,000 when schools in session. Always improving roads and adding bike lanes. 1/2 mile past the university is miles of cows, cotton and now fracking towers. Other direction is pure city all the way to Dallas. I pretty much have an area I allow myself to ride.
That said I like this one route that's like one 8 mile long down hill through the country, but it spits you 5 miles away from my house if I go down a 50 mph road with construction and 3 lanes going to 1 lane with concrete Barriers on either side.
That's kinda a hair raising ride having ingested fungus at night.

I started working on writing some death-doom music this weekend. Kinda fun, needs a lot more work though. I won't be able to play any solos, so I gotta keep it grim and primitive.
I'm pretty f-ing impressed with the new Job for a Cowboy. Super tech like old Cynic, Death, Gorguts, Atheist and the like.
Bass sounds great!

In other news the old roomie got a drum kit. Been going over there for a few weekends. He suggested finding a guitar player. I'm going to bring over the bass whammy and more distortion and hook up 2 amps first and see what happens. So now I have some motivation to practice

Truth! And thank you! I cannot turn the Sunn up past 1.5 if I have my SB2 on full blast. I actually still have to play softly, but it sounds so good!

I was a big fan of early JFAC when I was into that kind of stuff in college but really hated where the early dethcore train led. Pretty impressed by this new material though. There is some wicked bass playing going on!
In college on the main lawn there was always this hippie drum circle that played horrible music. I had repetitive dreams about walking up to them with some giant boombox from the 90s blasting Bearing the Serpent's Lamb and just headbanging like crazy haha.
Fubar can be sketchy, but a common tactic that has never let me down is the very simple, "Bring everything into the club until you are packing to leave."
A lot of the bands that have had issue with Fubar are touring bands. Not nearly as many local groups have been hit. Almost every time computers and cashboxes that were left in the van were some of the things taken. Honestly I don't care if its an upper middle class suburban locale or the dirty dirty, I am not leaving anything in a van outside of a club.
True frikkin story. I do feel bad for the bands that got took, and I hope they find the jackholes doing this soon, but yeah, I don't leave crap in my van. Helps that I have car seats in it too
totally sold on the MF Delay + EP-3. only $400NZD together as well. pretty great considering the MF104M is $1000+.
real bummer about that Athon dude, cool band and sounder like an even cooler guy. i am getting my "legs" on a motorcycle via lessons shortly in order to commute cheaply - makes me all the more motivated to learn to be as safe as possible.

Hey Ron.. cab question for you:
I know you used to use Bergs. Didnt you move away from them and then find yourself jonesing for some sealed cab love again and got an 810 or something?
Im asking cos Ive been using my Fender cabs almost exclusively and have been contemplating selling my Bergs... bad idea?

Yeah I sold my bergs in search of louder and more low end. Replaced them with a dually and 66. Loved the low end, but missed the sealed cab tightness and how they move air. Sold the dually and got an ampeg heritage 8x10. So I've been using the 8x10 and 66 lately.
All that may be changing again soon though...
In the end I never should have sold my NV610. That's probably my favorite cab I've ever owned. The 8x10 sounds great, but the ease of moving/transport the berg puts it ahead overall in my book. Tonally they're in the same ballpark.
The 66 can handle a lot of power and produces an amazing amount of low end, but overall it's too hi-fi for me, no matter what I try, it's got way too much top end for me.
