Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I found out two days ago that my band had a show booked with Black Tusk (one of my favorite bands). Just found out a few minutes ago that bassist Jonathan Athon passed away today from injuries sustained from a severe motorcycle accident yesterday. The level of bummed is very high. Roll one up/pour one out/rip some doom riffs for a fallen brother amigos.
Ouch major bummer there.

So this weekend I plan on coming out Chicago to drop off some of my dads belongings he just moved out that way about month ago, my guitarist is about to roll out with me and were gonna check out this soldano 4x12 at the villa park guitar location then most likely hit up Chicago music exchange to check out some pedals, thinking about picking up a greystache, I've thinking about it ever since I got my supercollider, they have one with a kill switch and modded diodes, might be the one. Also I gotta go back to the three Floyd's brewery because space station middle finger is shaging poopie.

Really bummed about Anthon from Black Tusk. Apparently a car ran a stop sign and nailed him and his gf on their motorcycle. Just further reinforcement that I will never, ever own a motorcycle because you can't shaging trust people behind the wheel of a car. I won't pretend that I knew him well, but I did speak to him a few times and he was a super nice guy. Black Tusk was one of my favorite bands to see live, and one I made sure to catch every time they came to town. This one's got me torn up a little more than I would have expected. My thoughts to his friends and family.

poopy for every one involved.

I also will never own a motorcycle. My mom, dad, aunt, sisters, and grandma have all worked in ER rotations for the past 60 years. They have seen too many horrible things to let me ride one. Not that they think I would be the source, but yeah, you cant trust anyone else on the road.

Definitely a bummer to hear about the Black Tusk guy. When I was 16 one of my dad's friends was sitting on his bike at a stop light and got plowed into by a F250 - guy didn't even hit his brakes. Anyway, the friend with the motorcycle survived, but it took him 2 years to learn to walk again and has been on permanent disability ever since. That killed my motorcycle lust completely. Since then I've seen a lot of other bad stuff happen to bikers through no fault of their own - no thanks.

Depends on where you live. If you have bike lanes and stuff then maybe not. I only live a couple of miles from work so I'd love to use a bicycle to get to and from, but honestly I just don't trust other people. I feel like I almost get into an accident almost every single day and I'm a very good driver (knew how to drive at the age of 12).

Where I stay on main road with no bike lanes and hardly any side walk, people still ride their bikes although the mortality rate it pretty bad, there's a car wreck or someone getting hit on bike like once a month, first month I lived here a car full of four high school kids got smashed by a truck driver on way I take home from work

I feel bicycles are a bit safer because of your max speed of travel is much slower and I feel they are a bit more agile in ability to escape a dicy situation. People may take more note of a bicyclist riding on the side of the road going much slower than traffic than they would a motorcycle going the same rate of speed.
