Kzr the Micro Terror takes pedals great. Plenty of headroom if you keep the gain down to 9 o'clock to hear the pedals all on their own, how I usually run it, but tons of gain if you want it and then you get tons of volume for only 20 watts.

Can't remember if any of you dudes are from NY, but we'll be playing at Saint Vitus (bar) in Brooklyn on December 6th.

Congrats on the cool show - a lot of people are saying that the Saint Vitus Bars is picking up where CBGB left off. Should be a good time!

The Obelisk is one of the more popular ones, and JJ is a great dude. I've met him in person and he's super nice, and also a professional writer by day which results in his blog having some of the best literary content.
Heavy Planet is also pretty popular, and they've come to a ton of our shows! Also super nice guys.
The Sludgelord is also great. Gets lots of exposure on facebook. Those guys seem willing to review just about anything.
Link Removed is another. They never responded or reviewed us but we've gotten some hits for being on their list of free bandcamp albums.
Ride with the Devil is cool, nice guys. Lesser known blog.
The Ripple Effect is another good one, run by the Ripple Music label but used for promoting independent music. We just did a big interview with them recently.

Yesterday was a big day for me. I was promoted at the bakery from baker 1 to supervisor after 8 months. Its a promotion that is making a lot of waves within the management team. I don't care though and am going to let the haters hate while I continue to work hard and let my cream rise. In celebration, yesterday was also NAD.
I bought that 1971 2000s that I posted. It needs the death cap/polarity switch removed, needs new tubes and needs the 2 prong updated to a 3 prong, which may or may not make the $900 I paid a good deal. I don't really care that much though because this amp sounds amazing. Kind of funky sounding when run wide open by itself, but I realized at rehearsal last night that within the mix it is incredible. Also, aside from the scuffs in the tolex on the upper edge of the face of the amp it is CLEAN. The guy I got it from(who wouldn't haggle a dime) has owned the amp since the early 80s. I am stoked to have a bad ass tube amp at my disposal. Even with its modest rating, this is the first "big rig" bass tube amp I have owned. I couldn't be happier with it.

Congrats on the promotion man. Getting that amp recapped, serviced and having the plug changed shouldn't be too bad. I had to do the same thing with my '70 Traynor and it was definitely worth it as I've never had an issue with it since. Now you need a big honkin 2000S cab to go with that bad boy.

Thanks Corey. I am excited for my future. Never thought I would be a college educated baker, now I can't imagine anything else... except maybe a touring successful doomer haha. I am also excited about my TONE. Last night, the speaker cranker into this thing... not only did I not need another OD, I didn't want one. I was using a Sunn 215b with blackwidows. Not a 2000s cab, but I will either look into building one or a dually.
As far as gigging with this thing should I insist on having it mic'ed? Part of me cringes at the idea of a D.I. between my bass and pedal board and with an amp like this, I cringe a little at the thought of a D.I. between my board and amp. Kind makes the whole rig seem like "What's the point?".
A 2000S in prime condition into a Dually would sound nuts. The 2000S cab is a shelf ported 2x15 with EV speakers, with a sort of folded baffle. They're pretty great cabs, more than a few people have recreated them and there's rough drawings online. They don't seem to be incredibly hard to find in the wild used, but in what shape and with the original speakers in the question.
Mic it and tell sound guy to stuff the DI in their bag of tricks.

Very sweet man, congrats on joining the club! I may have another to complement yours tomorrow, guess we'll have to see. Make sure that the power tubes actually need replacing, those look like some nice RCAs in there, same as I had in a 200s, and they were some nice sounding valves. It also looks like someone did a nice solid job of securing down that one transformer. That faceplate looks nice and clean too, very cool. $900 is a pretty good price for them these days, it seems they're constantly edging on up towards the mid-$1000s. And don't be fooled by the "120w", as I think I mentioned earlier on in the thread.

Exactly. Any good sound man will be totally okay with doing this, and if they balk, that's a sign. I've never had mine DI'd, and honestly most of the time have plenty of stage volume as to where the mic doesn't need to do much. I had a guy try to DI it once, was poking around trying to find the DI out and almost plugged into the 4 ohm extension output. I then told him, it doesn't have a DI, just mic it, to which his response was "What do you mean it doesn't have a DI, I can't mic this." I then told him that it was a 40 year old amp, so of course it doesn't have a DI out, and if he was going to be mic'ing the guitarists amp. "Well, of course." "Good, then you can mic mine as well." It's not the worst idea to eventually invest in a nice bass mic though, since these schmoes often don't carry any.
In fact, here's that very gig. Pretty much stage volume. Gives you an idea of what these things sound like cranked up a bit. The guy kept fiddly funking with the damn levels though, something about amateur sound men which will never cease to annoy me. Mind you, they can have WAY more bass than I have in that video, I usually set my bass knob at around 2, with the boost off.
