Welp...Tayda won't send me my missing parts for the Rat they forgot to ship. They would only issue a credit. Now I got to order again from a more expensive local-ish place or find another Chinese dealer and wait even longer.
Can't wait to finish it up and show you guys. I have some awesome ideas for mods and I'm adding a bass boost and low-pass filter.
I spent some time with my Rat with my 2x15 and I'm thinking it'll work out just fine with the new cab. I always have to remember test my pedals out in the mix.
I bought an Epiphone Valve Jr. for at home jamming. I can't wait to mod that thing. I wanted to build a new tube low watt amp from scratch but there's no way I could get the parts for the $99 I spent on the Epi. The plan it to add an eq and an L-pad so I can use it like a dirt box!

I always get an inescapable gas attack right at the beginning of summer.
what do you guys use for a really tight sound? my new band is way faster, less doomy, loads of fills and fast runs with the guitarist. hotcake is too blown out, Bluebeard not defined/bitey enough. together in stereo they doom really well but the low end isn't defined as I would like it. oxfuzz perhaps?

You can't have huge low end and be tight especially with fuzz. I recommend a Sansamp BDDI and a Tube Screamer or Rat. No joke.
I use the Wizard Fuzz for a tight dirt sound. My tone is really similar to Torche/Sandrider. If you listen to a Sandrider album that's how my tone cuts through the live mix. I play a lot of uptempo 16th notes and stuff, and in the one new song we wrote I do my best Steve Harris triplets all in your face impression during a guitar solo. Works great.
I have this issue with some MDT stuff. My old go-to combo was Boss CS-2 > EBS Sheehan OD > Fuzzrocious BDPG. Now that I have the Volt Thrower, it's CS-2 > VT > Sheehan OD. Big lows, gritty and definition. Good for quick finger work.

Discovered that fugazi-end hits and Melvins-Houdini are the perfect snow storm driving albums.
I have bass tuned rat clone. I had the chip switched out to a lm308 and found out I liked whatever was in it before better. Still a nice od but not over the top.
My rat came with an OP07 instead of the LM308 - i like the original chip better for bass. The 308 kills on guitar, but i was a little underwhelmed when using it with bass.
I use a B3K and Blower Box both at low settings for my fast stuff. Heavy, versatile, and still kills!
Would a spilt signal with a low end dominate fuzz and a high and mid range boosted clean for dirty definition?
